Ben Stokes reverses Odi retirement ahead of World Cup, named in England squad for New Zealand series
London, Aug 16 (Ians) England on Wednesday received a huge boost ahead of the Icc Men’s Cricket World Cup 2023 as their Test captain Ben Stokes reversed his decision to retire from 50-over format and will return to Odi setup in the upcoming four-match series against New Zealand.
England selector Luke Wright confirmed that the 15 players named for New Zealand ODIs are also part of the provisional squad for the World Cup, where their campaign will get underway against New Zealand, in a rematch of the epic 2019 final at Lord’s.
“It wasn’t really a case of changing his mind. He was always interested in coming back. He had to make that priority of getting through the Ashes, have a break and give the body a rest. It wasn’t a case of needing to beg him or anything like that, he was always keen, so it was actually fairly straightforward.

New Delhi, Aug 13 (Ians) England coach Matthew Mott has said he is open to including Test captain Ben Stokes in the World Cup squad based solely on his batting prowess and revealed that limited-overs captain Jos Buttler will have a chat with Stokes to see if he is willing to reconsider his Odi retirement.
Stokes retired from ODIs in July last year and recently reiterated his intentions of staying retired from the 50-over format to be fit for the Test series against India in early 2024.
The all-rounder was one of the heroes for England in the 2019 edition of the mega event, winning the Player of the Match in the Final for his memorable unbeaten 84.
“Jos will probably lead the way on that communication, but Ben’s pretty straight with all of us. We will see if he’s keen,” Matthew Mott was quoted by the Icc website.

London, Aug 5 (Ians) Cricket ball manufacturer Dukes has said it will launch an investigation into the ball change which occurred during Australia’s second innings in the fifth Ashes Test at The Oval to be investigated, following which the visitors lost the match by 49 runs to England.
After Mark Wood hit Usman Khawaja on the helmet with a bouncer on the first delivery of the 37th over on day five’s play, umpires Joel Wilson and Kumar Dharmasena changed the ball, citing that it had gone out of shape. But the replacement ball looked more newer than the previous ball, and completely changed the course of the match as Australia were bowled out for 334 in a chase of 384.
Now, as per a report in Code Sports Australia, whispers coming out of England camp have suggested the replacement ball gifted to them was in fact a five-years’ old version of the...

The Ashes ended in a two-all tie after the hosts fought their way back into a winning position in the second half of the series.
England’s Joe Root featured on all three lists, advancing one slot to take second place behind New Zealand’s Kane Williamson, in the batters list with 859 rating points, while sliding up three spaces for 64th position in the bowlers list (334 points) and moved up one again for his sixth position (286 points) among the all-rounders.

London, Aug 1 (Ians) Australia opener Usman Khawaja has questioned the change of the ball during the second innings in the fifth and final Test of the Ashes 2023 series at The Oval after which England went on to win the match and level the series.
Though Australia retained the Ashes urn despite the 2-2 draw in the five-match series, Pat Cummins’ team was unhappy because of the ball change, which they feel was not done properly and a ball that looks ‘newer’ than the old one and resulted in England prising out Australian batsmen to trigger a collapse.
Two deliveries after a Mark Wood bouncer clattered into his helmet with such force that it knocked the ball out of shape, Khawaja was the first Australian batter to express his concern regarding the ball, walking up to umpire Kumar Dharamsena to claim that the replacement was offering significantly more movement than the Old one.

Ashes 2023: Stuart Broad gets winning send-off as England beat Australia by 49 runs; draw series 2-2
London, July 31 (Ians) Veteran fast-bowler Stuart Broad got his perfect fairytale ending to a glorious cricketing career by picking the last two wickets as England beat Australia by 49 runs in the fifth and final Ashes Test at The Oval on Monday to level an enthralling series 2-2.
Resuming from 135 for no loss, Australia were going great guns with all ten wickets in hand, before a ball change in the 37th over took their top three batters out. Steve Smith and Travis Head led Australia’s recovery before the rain came in.
After the two-hour rain break ended, Chris Woakes and Moeen Ali blew Australia away as four wickets fell for only 11 runs. Todd Murphy and Alex Carey frustrated England for a brief period as Australia went from 264 for three to 294 for 8.

London, July 31 (Ians) Former Australia captain Ricky Ponting has called for the ball change which occurred during Australia’s second innings in the ongoing fifth Ashes Test at The Oval to be investigated, a move which he termed as a ‘huge blunder’.
After Mark Wood hit Usman Khawaja on the helmet with a bouncer on the first delivery of the 37th over, umpires Joel Wilson and Kumar Dharmasena changed the ball, citing that it had gone out of shape.
But the replacement ball looked newer than the previous ball, as Khawaja, David Warner and Marnus Labuschagne were dismissed in quick succession in Australia’s chase of 384.

London, July 31 (Ians) Former England captain Nasser Hussain has stated that the hosts are “slight favourites” to win the fifth and decisive Ashes 2023 Test against Australia as the pitch will offer a turn on Day 5 at The Oval which will aid Ben Stokes’ side to level the series 2-2.
The lashing rain in London on Sunday forced the umpires to call stumps early on Day 4, with Australia closing the day four on 135 for no loss, still 249 runs away from taking the Ashes 3-1 and England needing 10 wickets to level the series.
“My feeling is that England are still slight favourites, even after Australia’s start. The pitch is spinning and a day-five Oval pitch does turn,” Hussain told Sky Sports.
He further added the rain has provided Moeen Ali with some additional time to recover from his groin strain, indicating that off-spinner’s recovery might play a crucial role on...

London, July 30 (Ians) With veteran England fast-bowler Stuart Broad set to retire from all forms of the professional game post the conclusion of the fifth and final Ashes Test at The Oval, former captain Nasser Hussain feels his retirement won’t influence his long-time bowling partner James Anderson on following the same path.
Anderson turned 41 on Sunday, the fourth day of the fifth and final day, and is England’s all-time leading Test wicket-taker with 690 wickets. He came into the ongoing match with just four wickets in the series at an average of 76.75.
On Day Two, he struggled initially but was able to beat both edges of the bat and managed to take out Mitchell Marsh to pick figures of 1-67 in 26 overs, though Australia took a lead of 12 runs. England’s next Test assignment after the Ashes will be a five-match trip to India from January 25 to March 11.

London, July 28 (Ians) Trailing 1-2 in the Ashes 2023 series and shot out for 283 in their first innings in the fifth and final Test, England are sweating on the availability of all-rounder Moeen Ali for the remaining part of the match.
Moeen, England’s main spinner in the match, was hurt on Thursday evening while running between the wickets in England’s first innings on Thursday at The Oval and did not take to the field in the final session on day one.
With Australia resuming at 61/1 in their first innings and hoping to take a big lead, England will be looking up to Moeen Ali to trouble them with his spin bowling. The Oval wicket is renowned for turning and Australia will be batting last in the match, Moeen’s spin bowling could be a huge factor.

London, July 24 (Ians) England have named an unchanged 14-member squad for the fifth Ashes Test against Australia starting at The Oval from Thursday. Australia have retained the Ashes with the fourth Test at Old Trafford ending in a draw due to rain on Sunday.

Manchester, July 20 (Ians) Australian legend Ricky Ponting has expressed his dissatisfaction with Australia’s batters for their failure to capitalize on the favorable batting conditions during the opening day of the fourth Ashes Test at Old Trafford and criticised their inability to convert good starts into substantial scores.
Despite having advantageous conditions for batting, the Australian team missed out on making the most of the opportunity as they could only manage to reach 299/8 at stumps on Day 1, with their highest individual score reaching just 51 runs.
While Marnus Labuschagne, Steve Smith, Travis Head, and Mitch Marsh crossed the 40-run mark, none of the other batters managed to capitalise on their starts and convert it into a significant innings.
Labuschagne, in particular, achieved his first half-century of the series with a score of 51, but he was dismissed by a seemingly tame delivery from Moeen Ali.

Manchester, July 19 (Ians) Chris Woakes and Stuart Broad made impactful contributions to give England first day honours in the fourth Ashes 2023 Test as Australia were 299-8 at stumps at Old Trafford, here on Thursday.
Woakes picked 4-52 in 18.5 overs to be England’s best bowler of the day, while Broad took 2-68 in 14 overs. During the opening day, Broad also reached 600 Test wickets, becoming just the second fast bowler and fifth bowler overall to reach the landmark.
It was a day where all Australian batters got starts, but none converted it into a big total.
After England elected to bowl first as skipper Ben Stokes went against the narrative of batting first, Broad moved to 599 Test wickets when he trapped Usman Khawaja lbw for three early in the morning session. David Warner shared a second-wicket stand of 46 with Marnus Labuschagne (51), before being dismissed by Woakes for 42.

Old Trafford (Manchester), July 18 (Ians) Fast-bowling all-rounder Cameron Green and pace Josh Hazlewood made their return as Australia announced their Playing XI for the fourth match of the ongoing Ashes 2023 series, with visitors to go into a Test without a specialist spinner for the first time in over a decade.
Scott Boland and Todd Murphy make way for Green and Hazlewood from the side that lost by three wickets at Headingley.
Fit-again Green, who missed the Leeds Test with a hamstring injury, has been listed to bat at seven, behind Mitch Marsh at No.6, with wicketkeeper Alex Carey to come in at No.8 as the Aussies rejigged the balance of their side to squeeze in their two all-rounders.
Marsh struck a blazing century in Leeds to guarantee his spot, leaving Murphy as the fall guy with Green coming back into the side to give captain Pat Cummins five pace bowling options.

Manchester, July 17 (Ians) Veteran quick James Anderson has replaced fellow pacer Ollie Robinson in England’s playing eleven for the fourth Ashes Test starting at Old Trafford on Wednesday.
Anderson was rested from England’s playing eleven for the third Test at Headingley, where they won by three wickets to keep the series alive. He now comes in for the Manchester Test in place of Robinson, who experienced back issues during the victory at Headingley. The back issues meant Robinson bowled only 11 overs in the first innings and didn’t bowl at all in second innings.
In the ongoing Ashes, Anderson has taken just three wickets at an average of 75.33 in the first two Tests at Edgbaston and Lord’s. He will now have a chance to bowl from the James Anderson End at his home ground Old Trafford, something which was also indicated by skipper Ben Stokes.

Manchester, July 16 (Ians) Former Australia captain Ian Chappell slammed England for bringing tearaway quick Mark Wood late in the playing eleven for the ongoing Ashes, saying his belated inclusion highlighted a typical problem in the set-up of failing in making the right selections.
Playing in a Test for the first time since last year’s tour of Pakistan, Wood picked 5-34 from 11.4 overs and 2-66 from 17 overs in both innings of the match at Headingley.
The pacer, who has missed many matches in between during his career due to various injuries, proved to be a crucial point of difference for England in winning the Headingley Test by three wickets.

Manchester, July 16 (Ians) Former Australia captain Ricky Ponting is impressed with the impact made by England fast bowler Mark Wood during the third Ashes Test at Headingley and compared the tearaway pacer with two legendary Australian bowlers Mitchell Johnson and Brett Lee.
In playing the ongoing Ashes for the first time, Wood picked 5-34 from 11.4 overs and 2-66 from 17 overs in both innings of the match, proving to be a crucial point of difference for England in winning the Headingley Test by three wickets.
“(Wood) is a bit like him (Johnson) and a bit like Brett Lee in his prime I reckon as well. Bowling first change, bowling quickly, intimidating batsmen, getting a little bit of movement when it was there. He is just an absolute strike weapon,” said Ponting on The Icc Review show.
Ponting agreed with the view that Wood’s inclusion turned out to be the difference for England at Headingley.

Dubai, July 12 (Ians) Australia batter Travis Head has overtaken team-mates Steve Smith and Marnus Labuschagne to grab a career-best second position in the Icc Men’s Test Player Rankings released on Wednesday.
Head jumped two places and up to second behind New Zealand veteran Kane Williamson on the back of his tremendous Ashes series against England that has already netted him a total of 266 runs at an average of 44.33.
The 29-year-old’s previous best ranking was third, attained after the Icc World Test Championship Final against India last month, in which he had scored a decisive 163 in the first innings.
Head’s scores of 39 and 77 in the third Ashes Test against England at Headingly have taken him to within nine points of Williamson’s 883 rating points even as the batting rankings continue to be volatile at the top with five of the top seven featuring in the ongoing Ashes series.

Leeds, July 9 (Ians) Though Rain wiped out the first two sessions on Day Three of the ongoing third Ashes Test at Headingley, it didn’t stop the action from moving at a frenetic pace in the one session of play possible on Saturday.
In the end, England reached 27/0 at stumps in a chase of 251 after their bowlers made good use of the overcast conditions to bowl out Australia for 224. Ben Duckett and Zak Crawley remained unbeaten on 18 and 9 respectively for England to leave the required runs to 224.
Resuming from 116/4 and with their lead at 142 runs, the total could have been a lot less for Australia if Travis Head hadn’t struck a magnificent 77 in conditions that were very tricky for batting.
Chris Woakes (3-68) dismissed first-innings centurion Mitchell Marsh (nicked behind) and Alex Carey (chopped onto his stumps) in quick succession, while Mark Wood (3-66) took out Mitchell Starc and...

New Delhi, June 30 (Ians) Former Australia skipper Ricky Ponting has reiterated that the England seamer Ollie Robinson has not looked particularly dangerous so far in the Ashes series, even after a three-wicket haul in the second Test at the Lord’s.
Robinson returned figures of 3-100, removing Marnus Labuschagne, Josh Hazlewood, and Nathan Lyon in the first innings of the Lord’s Test match.
Those three wickets leave Robinson with the most wickets of any pace bowler in the series so far, with a lower average and economy than any of Australia’s pace attack.
But speaking on the Icc Review podcast, Ponting said that the stats are skewed by Robinson picking up lower-order wickets and that Robinson, although skilful, has lacked threat.
“I don’t think he’s looked dangerous in the series at all,” Ponting said. “I mean, if you look at the wickets, he’s got the tailenders out in each game.

London, June 27 (IANs) Seamer Josh Tongue will mark his Ashes debut as he has been included in England’s XI for the second Test at Lord’s, starting on Wednesday, after Moeen Ali missed out following the finger injury he sustained during the first Test.
Tongue made his Test debut against Ireland at Lord’s earlier this month, claiming 5-66 in the second innings. His inclusion in the only change from the team that lost the first Test at Edgbaston by two wickets.
Moeen suffered a blistered finger during the opening match of the series, which Australia clinched by two wickets in a thrilling contest that went deep into the final day.
The off-spinner’s exclusion means Joe Root will be the primary spin option available at Ben Stokes’ disposal. Root bowled 22 overs in the first Test, and managed to take one wicket with his off-break deliveries.

London, June 23 (Ians) Leg-spinner Rehan Ahmed has been added to the England squad as a cover for Moeen Ali for the second Men’s Ashes Test against Australia to be held at Lords from June 28, the England and Wales Cricket Board (Ecb) said on Friday.
Ali returned to Test cricket after retiring from the format in 2021, due to lead spinner Jack Leach suffering a stress fracture to his back. But Ali also suffered an injury to his spinning finger while playing in the first Ashes Test at Edgbaston.
With a big blister on his spinning finger after bowling many overs on the trot in first innings, Ali couldn’t bowl significant overs in the second innings, which resulted in England losing in a dramatic fashion by two wickets to Australia.
The 18-year old Ahmed made his Test debut in the final Test against Pakistan in Karachi last winter and picked a five-wicket haul.

Birmingham, June 14 (Ians) Off-spin all-rounder Moeen Ali’s return to Test cricket was confirmed while Stuart Broad got preference over Mark Wood as England on Wednesday named their playing eleven for the first Ashes Test against Australia at Edgbaston.
In the playing eleven announced by England two days away from Ashes series opener, Ali will now be making a return to Test cricket in place of injured Jack Leach at his home ground. The spin all-rounder accepted an Sos call from captain Ben Stokes post Leach being ruled out due to a stress fracture in lower back.
Pacers James Anderson and Ollie Robinson also come back into the side after missing out on the ten-wicket win over Ireland at Lord’s due to nursing their groin and ankle niggles, with Matthew Potts and Josh Tongue making way for the duo.

London, June 4 (Ians) Former England captain Michael Vaughan has advised Australia to follow Ireland’s move of attacking left-arm spinner Jack Leach and implement the same in the upcoming Ashes series.
Leach had a good start to England’s home summer by picking 3/35 in the first innings of a one-off Test against Ireland at Lord’s. But he was taken for 90 runs in the second innings while picking one scalp, as Ireland made 326/9, though England chased down 11 in the first four balls of their second innings.
“My advice to Australia would be to take a breath, and stick to bowling your best ball, which is at the top of off stump, or just outside. Hour after hour. It is almost like T20 cricket: ask England to play a big shot to your best ball. You know they want to score, so stay ultra-negative and disciplined and plug the gaps where they usually get their runs.

London, June 3 (Ians) Fast bowler Josh Tongue has retained his place as England named an unchanged 16-member squad, which is playing the ongoing match against Ireland, for the first two Ashes Tests against Australia.
Tongue was a late addition to England’s squad to face Ireland in the one-off Test at Lord’s after fellow pacers Ollie Robinson and James Anderson picked up ankle and groin niggles respectively in the County Championship, and has been among the wickets in the ongoing match. The performance at Lord’s has led to him now being named in England’s squad for the first two Ashes matches.
Though Robinson and Anderson missed out on featuring in the Ireland Test due to the niggles, they are expected to be fit in time for the opening Ashes Test. It also means that wicketkeeper-batter Ben Foakes will not feature in the opening two matches of the highly-anticipated series.

London, June 1 (Ians) Former cricketer Mark Butcher believes England have handed a Test debut to uncapped fast bowler Josh Tongue due to his extra pace, something which was also seen when fellow pacer Matthew Potts was given his first Test cap last year.
Tongue, 25, has impressed for several seasons in domestic competitions for Worcestershire and was part of the England Lions tour of Sri Lanka earlier this year. He was included initially in the England Test squad as a cover for James Anderson and Ollie Robinson nursing groin and ankle niggles.
His remarkable Test debut will come after almost retiring from the game due to a nagging nerve issue in his right shoulder, which needed two operations and Botox injections to solve in a 15-month layoff period.
Now, ahead of the one-off match against Ireland at Lord’s on Thursday, Tongue became England’s 711th cricketer in the longest format of the game,...

Gill’s sparkling knock of 101 and his 147-run partnership with Sai Sudharsan for the second wicket helped Titans put up a stiff 188/9. In reply, Srh were never in contention and were reduced to 59/7 in 9 overs before they pulled things back slightly and finished at 154/9 in their allotted 20 overs.
Paceman Mohammed Shami ran through the Srh top order, taking 4/21 while medium pacer Mohit Sharma finished with 4/28 in a brilliant bowling display.

New Delhi, May 5 (Ians) England men’s cricket managing director Rob Key has predicted that fast bowler Jofra Archer will have a “massive impact” in the upcoming Ashes, set to begin from June 16 at Edgbaston.
Archer has picked 42 wickets in 13 matches since his debut in 2019 and has not played Test cricket for England since February 2021, owing to undergoing multiple operations for back and elbow injuries in the last two years.
He finally made a comeback to international cricket in 2023 through impressive performances in England’s white-ball tours to South Africa and Bangladesh. Archer is currently playing for Mumbai Indians in Ipl 2023, though he missed four matches in between due to an elbow niggle.
“We’re going to select for the Ireland test, so hopefully he’ll be available for selection for that, at this point, I’m assuming he will be. Then we’ve got a crop of bowlers, Ben...

New Delhi, April 21 (Ians) Former England skipper Michael Vaughan stated that right-handed opener Prithvi Shaw cannot keep relying on his reputation and the things he’s done in the past, especially after suffering a poor start to Ipl 2023 for the Delhi Capitals.

Lucknow, April 16 (Ians) After his maiden Ipl fifty led Punjab Kings to a tight two-wicket win over Lucknow Super Giants, Zimbabwe all-rounder Sikandar Raza said people made a huge thing about him not getting fifties in the tournament, while adding that winning the match for the team is more important.
Raza’s 41-ball 57 injected momentum in Punjab’s chase of 160 and with Shahrukh Khan hitting an unbeaten 10-ball 23, helped the side chase down the total with three balls to spare. It meant Punjab got their third win of the competition and are now at fourth place in the points table.

Bengaluru, April 11 (Ians) Lucknow Super Giants were 37/3 at the end of power-play, with Royal Challengers Bangalore firmly on top of them in a run chase of 213 at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium but Marcus Stoinis brought his side back with his impressive 30-ball 65 while Nicholas Pooran smashed a sensational 19-ball 62, including hitting fastest fifty of the season in 15 balls, to take the team to a last-ball thrilling one-wicket victory in a dramatic match, here on Monday.

Bengaluru, April 10 (Ians) Royal Challengers Bangalore’ top three batters Virat Kohli, Faf du Plessis and Glenn Maxwell slammed contrasting fifties to power their side to a mammoth 212/2 against Lucknow Super Giants in an Ipl 2023 match at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium, here on Monday.
Kohli was at his aggressive best in attacking pacers in power-play while making 61 off 44 balls. On the other hand, Du Plessis was at 33 off 31 balls and looked scratchy but he found his timing to be unbeaten on 79 from 46 deliveries while Maxwell smacked 59 off just 29 balls as the crowd was treated to some scintillating strokeplay.
Kohli got his first boundary with a not-so-convincing shot — getting a fat top-edge on a pull off Avesh Khan in the second over. When Avesh gave width on the very next ball, Kohli drove him authoritatively through extra cover for four.
Kohli further attacked Avesh in his second over through a brace of...

New Delhi, April 10 (Ians) Former Indian cricketer Ravi Shastri believes that Lucknow Super Giants captain Kl Rahul can take chances to attack up front and convert them into big scores but with a rapid approach in the match against Royal Challengers Bangalore (Rcb) on Monday.
Rahul, whose run-tally from the last four seasons is 616, 626, 670, and 593, has registered scores of 8, 20, and 35 in the Indian Premier League 2023 so far at a strike rate of 103.28.
“I think he (Kl Rahul) will aim to play a big inning but with a rapid approach. With the presence of Kyle Mayers, Stoinis and de Kock yet to come, Lsg have a powerful batting line-up. So, Kl Rahul can take chances,” Shastri said on ESPNcricinfo.
The former cricketer further lauded Rahul’s opening partner Kyle Mayers, who has scored 139 runs in three games, with two back-to-back half-centuries.

Lucknow, April 7 (Ians) Aiden Markram won his first toss as the captain of Sunrisers Hyderabad and elected to bat first against Lucknow Super Giants (Lsb) in Ipl 2023 at the Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Cricket Stadium on Friday.
Both teams enter Friday’s match after losses in their last game. While Hyderabad were thrashed by Rajasthan Royals by 72 runs, Lucknow suffered a 12-run defeat to Chennai Super Kings.
“The wicket looks quite dry. Hopefully, we can put up a good total. Ideally, we will get to our first win. Everyone seems in good spirits and full of energy. The guys are looking excited. Since we are batting first, Anmolpreet Singh will start,” said Markram.
Lucknow skipper K.L. Rahul said his team will look to adjust to the black soil pitch, which means less pace and bounce, without the services of Mark Wood and Avesh Khan, with Quinton de Kock also not playing.

South Africa batting great Ab de Villiers feels that the side hasn’t been able to gel as a unit yet and added that the main players have to step up to put in match-winning performances. "It has been rocky start and not been easy for them. It is never easy when you start with an away game and you lose badly like they did. Especially, when you are fielding like they did in that first game. It is generally a sign of what the vibe in the squad is like."
"I know Ricky Ponting pretty well; he would have covered all the bases. You cannot look at the coaching staff; they would not have left a stone unturned going into this tournament. They made some good buys in the auction. It is a solid squad; it is possibly a tournament-winning squad," said de Villiers while responding to a question...

After suffering their second successive loss of the tournament in a six-wicket defeat to the Titans, Delhi’s assistant coach Ajit Agarkar admitted that the batting unit, which struggled to break the shackles throughout their innings, has to step up collectively for much better results, while solidly defending young batting duo of Prithvi Shaw and Sarfaraz Khan in their struggles against quality fast bowling.
"They (Prithvi and Sarfaraz) have made runs in the past against fast bowling and in general, I don’t think we batted well, so why point out one or two guys? None of our top order really got going in both games. We’ve not had big runs at the top, which some of the other teams have and you can see the difference."
So there’s no point picking individuals. Collectively, we’ve not been good enough on both nights and we need to improve...

Chennai, April 4 (Ians) Lucknow Super Giants (Lsg) bowling coach Morne Morkel lauded Kyle Mayers, who has scored back-to-back fifties, for being in a scintillating form in the ongoing Indian Premier League (Ipl) 2023 and said it would be a “selection headache” with Quinton de Kock joining the team in coming days.
After smashing 73-run against Delhi Capitals (DC) in Lsg’s first match, the West Indian hit 53 runs off 22 against the Super Kings, including eight fours and two sixes on Monday.
However, Mayers’ half-century went in vain as Lsg suffered a 12-run loss at the hands of Chennai Super Kings at the Ma Chidambaram Stadium.
With 126 runs from two games at an average of 63, Mayers is currently second in the list of leading run-scorers in Ipl 2023.
The left-hander was not first choice player for Lsg but he got the opportunity in absence of De Kock and grabbed it with both. De...
