Ahsan Minhas, a passionate and talented producer, director and writer, has been working in various film industries ranging from USA, UK, Saudi Arabia and Pakistan. He started his path in filmmaking with London Short Film Group in the UK at the age of 19 for short films being made for BBC. Later he obtained a qualification in film production from the esteemed New York Film Academy in 2018 and worked in various productions in Hollywood and the film industry in New York.
Now with more than 15 short films to his credit in various positions, Ahsan has garnered a name for himself primarily as a film director and writer, having 9 international film festival selections and 5 wins from USA, Turkey and United Arab Emirates. His film 'My Dear Fiction' was the 1st film made by a Pakistani filmmaker which was selected and screened at the 1st Red Sea International Film Festival in Saudi Arabia in the New Saudi Cinema category in 2021. The film won at the Global Film Awards for Best Drama Short in Los Angeles, USA in 2022.
Ahsan's latest project, a Saudi Short Film, 'Sukoon - Addiction of Silence', was selected and screened at the Saudi Film Festival 2023, showcasing his distinct perspective on making an Arabic language film and merging Saudi culture with international style filmmaking. It made him the 1st Pakistani filmmaker to have his films selected at both the Red Sea International Film Festival and Saudi Film Festival and being the 1st Pakistani filmmaker to have made an Arabic short film on such a level in Saudi Arabia and breaking barriers in the Middle East's film landscape when he won 'Best GCC Short Film' at the Sharjah International Film Festival 2023 in UAE. Sukoon also won 'Best Foreign Short' at the Anatolian Awards 2023, also winning 'Best Directors' & 'Best Original Screenplay' at the Independent Shorts Awards 2023 in USA.
