Geetha Nagabhushan(1942-2020)

Geetha Nagabhushan was a noted feminist writer who wrote 27 novels in the Kannada language, spoken predominantly by people of Karnataka in Southwestern India. In 2004 she won the Sahitya Academy award in Kannada for her novel "Baduku," becoming the first woman writer from Karnataka to win this honor. She was also the first woman writer to win the Nadoja award. In addition to her novels, she also wrote poetry, 12 dramas, over 50 short stories and numerous essays.
