Angela Lorena Statnik is a Colombian award-winner screenwriter, and emerging director based in Los Angeles. Her 12 years of experience as a script/continuity supervisor in film and television have been her grounding for directing and producing.
Her artistic work is fueled by everyday stories elevated to the surreal level from a female empowerment perspective to criticize, question or denounce beliefs and behaviors that impact contemporary society. As a contemporary artist, she focuses on fantasy cross-genre exploring a blend between fantasy and other genres such mystery, drama, psychological thriller and comedy.
She is a pioneer at the foundation of the union for script supervisors and assistant directors in Colombia, ASCAD, and one of the first Colombian immigrant script supervisors to work in the Hollywood industry as a member of IATSE Local 871.
She was born and raised in Bogotá. As a child, Angela developed artistic skills performing Colombian-Caribbean drums, dancing, and acting at her catholic only women school where from she graduated with honors as best artist. She pursued a film career convinced of Cinema as the best way to integrate all arts. She graduated from the school of cinema Blackmaria being the only woman in her class, which shaped her standpoint in filmmaking.
