Traveled widely during his life, serving in the U.S. Navy during World
War II in the Pacific and in China, then serving as a medic in the
Israeli armed forces, and settling with his wife in Milford,
Pennsylvania in the 1960s. They moved to Amecameca, Mexico, in 1963,
but were divorced. Davidson lived in British Honduras for years, and in
the 1970s taught at the University of Texas in El Paso, at the
University of California in Irvine, and at the College of William and
Mary in Williamsburg, Virginia. In 1982 he moved to Washington
State.
