"Strange New Worlds" might be less than two seasons old, but the almost universally well-received "Trek" series has already made a name for itself by consistently taking bold swings -- in multiple directions. As much as the recent musical episode or the crossover special with "Lower Decks" reaffirmed that the writers on this show thrive when they allow themselves to get a little silly, there have been several episodes that tackled much darker themes with an impressive amount of nuance and hard-hitting emotions. There's the entire matter of Christopher Pike's (Anson Mount) tragic backstory and his foreknowledge of what's to come, of course, but "Strange New Worlds" has also shown a willingness to go to some seriously, well, serious places when the character and story call for it.

We had a chance to chat with David Huynh, currently starring in The Sinner as Cj, a troubled young man involved with the equally troubled Percy Muldoon (Alice Kremelberg).
He offered candid insight into working on the show and bringing the gritty details of the twisty psychological drama to life.
Don't worry; we kept the spoiler parts of the conversation close to the vest. Let's just say that you are going to love The Sinner Season 4 Episode 6! Enjoy.
So I was looking at your IMDb page, and you've been on so many awesome shows in guest roles. What guest role is your most memorable?
It's dating, and this is going pretty far back, but I did a guest thing on ER, and this was a long time ago. It was the last season of ER, and it was the second last episode.
Oh wow.
Yeah. And at the time, it was what,...

Exclusive: Cindy Cheung (The Flight Attendant), Ronin Wong (The Man in the High Castle) and Neal Huff (Mare of Easttown) have joined the Season 4 cast of USA Network’s The Sinner as new series regulars. Additionally, David Huynh (Baby) will recur on the crime anthology series, starring Bill Pullman and Jessica Hecht.
Cheung and Wong are the first Asian/Asian Americans to be cast as series regulars on the show.
In Season 4, still reeling from the trauma of a previous case a year ago, the now-retired Harry Ambrose (Pullman) travels to Hanover Island in Northern Maine for a recuperative getaway with his partner, Sonya (Hecht). When an unexpected tragedy occurs involving the daughter of a prominent island family, Ambrose is recruited to help the investigation, only to be thrown into a mystery of mounting paranoia that will turn this sleepy tourist island, and Ambrose’s life, upside down.
Cheung will play Stephanie Lam.

Director: Juwan Chung. Review Adam Wing. With his second feature Juwan Chung (Cake) paints a tragic tale of Asian youths caught up in South East Los Angeles gang life during the mid 80’s and early 90’s. Critics have compared the film to Boyz N The Hood, high praise indeed, and the film seems to have justified that tag by picking up numerous awards including New Director/New Visions Award at the Los Angeles Asian Pacific Film Festival. David Huynh stars as the Baby of the title but don’t worry, identical in name alone, if this particular Baby gets put in the corner he’ll probably come out blasting. You won’t want to be calling him Frances either.
