Sandra M. Matheson was raised on a cattle ranch and her family had a grocery business. She received her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree in 1982 from Washington State University and worked first in a mixed practice, then in an exclusive feline practice. She raises beef cattle, yak, and laying hens on her ranch. Running a ranch is very exciting and sometimes dangerous! It produces fodder for many of my (non-ranch) thrillers. Someday ask me about how my calves captured a bank robber being pursued by an army of law enforcement through the ranch.
Sandra has long had a strong interest in writing and film. She received her Video Production Certificate in Western Washington University's year-long program. She wrote, produced, directed, and shot many different documentaries and shorts over the next few years. Occam's Grazer is her feature-length documentary about sustainable agriculture. She wrote and produced the children's TV series Grandma's House about diversity. Dr. Matheson is also a best-selling author.
She began studying and writing screenplays in 2007. In 2009, she took a sabbatical to care for aging family members. In late 2020 she completed the Master Screenwriting Certificate program and is an active screenwriter. Sandra also completed the Screenwriting U Binge-Worthy TV Program. Her specialties are in the Thriller, Sci-Fi, and Supernatural genres. She writes spec scripts, and TV, and is open to writing assignments.
