Darrell Griffith for infielder Ron Hunt and outfielder Jim Hickman (the
last of the Original Mets) on November 29, 1966.
Played with 9 different ballclubs over the course of his major league
career, finishing with the Kansas City Royals in 1976.
Led the Mets in batting (.302), home runs (16), and runs batted in (73)
in 1967, his lone season with them.
Traded by the Mets to the Chicago White Sox on December 15, 1967 along
with pitchers Jack Fisher and Billy Wynne and minor league catcher Buddy
Booker for outfielder Tommie Agee and infielder Al Weis.
Suffered a broken ankle early in the 1965 season, which would
subsequently hamper his running ability.
Led the National League in batting (.346) and runs batted in (153, the
most in the Major Leagues since 1949) as a Los Angeles Dodger in 1962.
