Appeared in only one feature film,
Shallow Hal (2001), starring
Gwyneth Paltrow and
Jack Black. Shintani played Li'iBoy, performing "Never Forget Where I'm From" on the ukelele with
Jason Alexander's character seated nearby. Co-director
Peter Farrelly was vacationing in Hawaii when he discovered Shintani, a ukulele-player extraordinaire. A high school senior at the time, he was playing his ukulele outside a public library when Farrelly happened to drive by. He was flown to Los Angeles for a screen test and landed the part immediately.
