The event took place at Stamford Bridge, where Chelsea Football Club regularly plays, and aimed to raise funds to rebuild a school damaged during Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.

Soccer Aid for Unicef 2022, broadcast live and exclusively on ITV and Stv last week from the London Stadium, has raised a record-breaking £15,673,728 so far for Unicef’s vital work giving children around the world the care-free, play filled childhoods they are entitled to.
This record-breaking amount was raised thanks to the generous support of the UK public, ITV and Stv viewers, and The Power of Nutrition who have matched donations up to £4 million, meaning double the difference for children. This figure has smashed last year’s record total for money raised on the night.
The hotly anticipated match took place at the sold-out London Stadium with 54,410 fans in attendance, 10 years on from the London 2012 Summer Olympics. The match ended 4-1 on penalties to Soccer Aid World XI, taking them into the overall lead with 6-5 wins since the inaugural 2006 match. Unicef UK Ambassador Robbie Williams will sing his iconic ballad ‘Angels’ in front of 60,000 fans at Soccer Aid for Unicef this summer – and tickets are already selling fast.
In what promises to be one of this summer’s not-to-be-missed events, the pop superstar will take to the London Stadium pitch at half-time of the world’s biggest celebrity football match to deliver the performance.
It will also be a coming home party for London 2012 sprint king Usain Bolt. The world’s fastest man returns to the London Stadium exactly 10 years on from his gold medal heroics.
A family of four can attend the game for just £60, which takes place on Sunday 12th June at the London Stadium, Stratford – the first time Soccer Aid for Unicef has ever been played there.
A number of Soccer Aid for Unicef debutants were announced today. Former One Direction signer Liam Payne will captain the England team.

Soccer Aid for Unicef 2020 has, thanks to the generosity of ITV viewers, raised a record £11,552,577 – the most the match has ever raised in the history of the show, which was broadcast exclusively live on ITV and Stv.
For the first time in the match’s history, donations were matched by both the UK government and Gavi, The Vaccine Alliance, meaning every £1 donated becomes £3 – up to £3 million – until Tuesday 6th October 2020.
This year’s teams of celebrities and former professional footballers played for ‘Generation Covid’, and the money raised will help Unicef stop the spread of coronavirus and limit the impact on children’s lives around the world.
The match, which was played behind-closed-doors at Manchester United Fc’s Old Trafford, ended 1-1 and so went to penalties. The game marked a return to the North West following last year’s game at Chelsea Fc’s Stamford Bridge.
