After he had started his career in the animation and character design at Studio Ghibli, working on such features as “Arietty” and “From Up on Poppy Hill”, Yojiro Arai eventually became a member of Studio Colorido, where he would not only work in the previously mentioned departments, but also take over directing duties. He also contributed to the animation and character design for “Sonny Boy & Dewdrop Girl”, a short feature by the studio’s co-founder Hiroyasu Ishida, who liked the cooperation with his colleague and decided to take over Arai’s job for his directing debut, the short feature “Typhoon Noruda”. Much like his colleague’s works, the inspiration for the story surrounding the friendship of two male high-school students and their encounter with a supernatural force, came from a drawing which helped him, Ishida and the remaining crew, to find the right language and design approach for the feature.

Over three years in development and so far I would say it was time well spent. At just over 13 hours into Final Fantasy Xiii I can say that there is an awful lot to like in this game… that is if you’re a Jrpg fan.
Personally, I’m a casual acquaintance of JRPGs. In fact, the Final Fantasy series is pretty much where it ends for me with the exception of the Suikoden series and Valkyria Chronicles. That said, I’m really enjoyed what I’ve experienced from Ffxiii so far.
The Good
The Characters: Well most of the characters, are very likable, interesting and complex. They all have specific motives and seem to have deeper back stores that I hope are explored as I progress though the story. Of all the playable characters, Sazh is my favorite. He’s considered the “old man” of the group and is...

In case the average Final Fantasy Xiii fan wasn’t content with the arrangement of Ffxiii limited editions, perfumes and costumes available to them, they’ll now be pleased to know they can also spend money on the Original Soundtrack collection.
Square Enix released the details on the upcoming product, in which there are two versions: standard and limited edition (of course).
The standard edition has four CDs which cover all the tracks in Final Fantasy Xiii, scored by Masashi Hamauzu himself. The CDs are packaged in a nice, Ffxiii-themed slipcase and will retail for 3990 yen (the equivalent of about $45, or, you know, pretty much the expense of the game itself). The limited edition features the appearance of a fifth disc, simply entitled “Episode Zero – Promise Story”. Instead of the slip case, the CDs are packaged in that sexy white box you see at the top of this article. That’ll run you 5250 yen,...
