Sindhu, who has been struggling for form this year, defeated compatriot Ashmita Chaliha 21-18, 21-13 to make the women’s singles round of 16.

Sen went down to local favourite Jonatan Christie 21-15, 10-21, 13-21 in 61 minutes of play. This was the Indian shuttler’s first loss against Christie in their second meeting.
Both players engaged in high-quality rallies from the start but it was the Indian who went into the first mid-game break with an 11-8 lead. He built on his lead to take the first game convincingly. Orleans (France), March 25 (Ians) Saina Nehwal beat France's Marie Batomene 18-21, 21-15, 21-10 to reach the women's singles quarterfinals of the Orleans Masters Super 1000 tournament on Thursday.

Bangkok, Feb 2 (Ians) The mixed doubles Indian duo of Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Ashwini Ponnappa have entered the top 20 in the latest Bwf rankings.
Satwiksairaj and Ashwini have made a jump of 16 places and are placed at the 19th spot in the rankings which got updated on Tuesday.
"Mixed doubles duo of Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Ashwini Ponnappa enters top 20 in the latest Bwf World Ranking. A fantastic show in the Asian Leg ensures career-best ranking and a jump of 16 spots for the Indian shuttlers. Kudos Guys," Badminton Association of India (Bai) said in a tweet.
The rankings are being led by the Chinese pair of Zheng Siwei and Huang Yaqiong.

New Delhi, Jan 29 (Ians) Star Indian men's doubles pair Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty will be coached by Denmark's 2012 London Olympics silver medallist Matthias Boe in the run up to this year's Olympics in Tokyo.
The Sports Authority of India (Sai), while announcing his appointment on Friday, said that former men's doubles world No.1 Boe will also be help out Ashwini Ponnappa and N. Sikki Reddy, who are 15th in the rankings for Olympic qualification in women's doubles and also form mixed doubles pairs with Rankireddy and Shetty respectively.
Shetty and Rankireddy and currently ninth in the rankings for the Olympics with top 16 pairs eligible for the qualification in doubles.
The Olympics are sheduled to be held from July 23 to August 8.
