Aage Wiltrup(1916-2003)
- Cinematographer
- Director
- Editor
Aage Wiltrup was one of Danish film's most significant
cinematographers. His education was multi-layered; in the 1930s he held
a position with Zeiss-Werke, Germany, then studied at a photo school in
London, then had assistant jobs for Nordisk Film in Denmark. It was
Saga Film, however, that became his base as a cinematographer. He
started there in 1943 and shot dusins of films for them. In his early
days with Saga he is recognized to have played a great role in the
development of Danish film and especially the aesthetics of
black-and-white film. Much of the work he was given late in his career
was of a less qualitative character, although many of the films were
popular.
