With the success of shows like “black-ish,” “The Carmichaels,” and Issa Rae’s “Insecure” hitting HBO next week, it seems networks are finally coming (back) around to the black sitcom. Taking note of the trend are YouTube Red and Buzzfeed, who have partnered to produce “Broke,” a new sitcom from creator Quinta Brunson about three millennial friends trying to make it in Los Angeles.
The premise may not be groundbreaking (especially for a web series), but the characters are. Brunson plays Miloh, a laidback aspiring writer who lives with her two best friends, Mo (Maurice Williams) and Paul (Paul Dupree), and there is no trace of sexual tension between the three characters — a notably refreshing absence.
A focus on relationships isn’t the only thing thankfully missing from “Broke”: It also manages to find humor without relying on black caricatures or stereotypes.

Earlier in September, BuzzFeed and YouTube Red announced a deal through which two shows produced by the former company would be distributed by the latter. Now, the first of those shows has arrived, as Broke, created by and starring Quinta Brunson, has premiered its first episode.
In Broke, Brunson, Maurice Williams, and Paul Dupree star as a trio of friends who are looking to succeed in the real world after graduating from college. There’s only one problem: they’re all broke. Their shared lack of income is the basis from which the show generates many of its laughs. In the first episode, for example, we learn how the relationship between the three roommates is affected when they find an old ottoman on the street and bring it into their apartment.

Iggy Azalea has decided to kiss and make up with her ex-boyfriend. At least in the courtroom. “Fancy” rapper Azalea and her ex, Maurice Williams — who goes under a number of aliases, including Jefe Wine — have agreed to dismiss Azalea’s lawsuit against Williams, which claimed that early recordings she made were stolen and released without her consent. A stipulation for dismissal filed in federal court in California on Tuesday notes that the parties “hereby stipulate to the dismissal, with prejudice” of the suit. The parties have also agreed to dismiss a cross-complaint filed in the action. Also Read: Iggy Azalea Opens.

Documentary Dinosaur 13 depicts the event of 1990, when American fossil hunter Pete Larson and his team discovered the largest and most complete Tyrannosaurus Rex ever found while digging in the badlands of South Dakota. Iggy Azalea is fighting back after reports surfaced that her ex Maurice Williams, aka Hefe Wine, was seeking to end their common-law marriage.
A previous TMZ story claimed that Wine filed divorce documents, explaining that he and the "Fancy" singer had "agreed to be married, holding themselves out as man and wife and began residing together in the State of Texas on or around September, 2008."
But that's not the case according to Azalea herself. She tweeted, "I think we already all know, but just to clarify. I'm Not married. Feel free to check the Public marriage records."

Just when she thought the drama was over, Iggy Azalea's ex dropped another bombshell.
On Friday (October 10), Maurice Williams, aka Hefe Wine, presented divorce documents to the “Fancy” since claiming that the pair was in a common-law marriage.
According to TMZ, Williams wrote that he and Azalea "agreed to be married, holding themselves out as man and wife and began residing together in the State of Texas on or about September 2008.”
Hefe Wine is the same man who claimed he had a sex tape with Iggy and tried to sell it to an adult film company.
Just like the sex tape, Iggy denied the marriage to her ex. "It's disappointing that this thief, felon, and fugitive is continuing to use the media to attack Iggy as part of his desperate and despicable attempt to keep himself in the press," a spokesperson for Azalea said in a statement to Us Weekly.

Iggy Azalea was photographed leaving the Shepherd's Bush Empire in London on Wednesday night following her live performance at the U.K. concert venue.
The 24-year-old rapper, who has been making headlines for an alleged sex tape as of late, exited her vehicle with a giant white blanket over her head, which appears to have a mouth and two eyes drawn in the center in permanent black marker to create a cheesy ghost illusion.
Azalea, who was entirely unrecognizable with the exception of her "color me free" tattoo on her left foot, sported a pair of sweat pants and Chanel espadrilles, clearly looking like she does not want to be photographed as she wards off the media attention.
The "Fancy" rapper most recently filed a lawsuit against her ex, Maurice Williams aka Hefe Wine, for infringing copyright and unlawfully promoting yet-to-be released music from her early days as a struggling artist.

Chicago – Only in America can an animal die millions of years ago, have its fossilized bones discovered in the 20th Century, and end up in a court of law, determining who she belongs to as if in a child custody case. The story of the most complete Tyrannosaurus Rex ever found is chronicled in the new documentary “Dinosaur 13.”
The T-Rex in question is nicknamed Sue, named after her discover Susan Hendrickson, and now resides in the Field Museum of Chicago. Hendrickson was part of a fossil-hunting-for-profit team who uncovered Sue in 1990, only to have a location dispute put her ownership rights into litigation. This story is fascinating, from the viewpoint of what land ownership means, and who owns what is found on said lands. It also is a cautionary tale about messing with the U.S. government, because as this film rightly points out, they mostly use their law...

Chicago – When the skeletal remains of a long-lost animal is discovered and pulled from the earth, does anybody really own it? That is the question in the new documentary, “Dinosaur 13,” directed by Todd Miller. It’s the story of discovering those dinosaur bones and the implications for the person who exhumed them, Peter Larson.
“Dinosaur 13” ended up being “Sue” – named for the actual person who first saw the bones, Susan Hendrickson – the most complete Tyrannosaurus Rex specimen ever discovered. Sue now resides in the Field Museum in Chicago, but her journey to the final resting place was fraught with the 20th Century notion of who owned her. Director Todd Douglas Miller combines archival footage, news reports and re-creations to unfold the only-in-America story of the final journey to rest of a long dead creature.

Ever since Jurassic Park exploded into the imaginations of kids everywhere in ‘93, there hasn’t been another film since that has sparked the same interest in our large, scaley (or feathery) friends, the dinosaurs. Not even Spielberg himself with Jp’s sequel, The Lost World, could match the same fervent love for Raptors and Tyrannosaurs that the original inspired. That is, until now; Dinosaur 13, an incredible new documentary, comes the closest to capturing the same childlike wonder and awe we feel when coming in contact with a creature from an almost entirely different planet, sixty-five millions years into the past – even if that contact is divided by a cinema screen. And it’s all because of a bunch of bones. Let’s go back in time – but not that far…

Miller Asks: Who’s Dinosaur Is It Anyways?
Before 1990, only twelve Tyrannosaurus Rex had ever been discovered. As you may have guessed, Dinosaur 13 documents the incredible discovery of Sue, the thirteenth and most complete specimen to date, by a commercial group of palaeontologists from South Dakota calling themselves the Black Hills Institute and the subsequent legal meltdown that followed shortly thereafter. Make no bones about it, Sue’s story is a naturally riveting tale of rock obsessed rebels caught in a real-estate netherworld where con men and power hungry institutions wield the power to ruin lives and bury dreams, but too soon the dino-hunting excitement and intrigue of this insular world is traded for the tedium of offscreen courtroom drama.
