Writer of the original indie horror film, Ginger Snaps(2000), Karen Walton is a Toronto-based screen and television writer-executive producer whose credits include Orphan Black (S I& II), Queer As Folk (SII, USA), episodes of Flashpoint, The Listener, and more. A graduate of the Canadian Film Centre's film writing programs and holding an Honours Degree in Drama from the University of Alberta, Karen received the Margaret Collier Special Canadian Academy Award for her body of work as a screenwriter in 2016.
Before becoming a screenwriter, Karen Walton had an array of
jobs - including stunt work on Prom Night II, performing singing
telegrams, handing out free deli meat samples in grocery stores, and
clerking for a retail greeting card giant.
