During the filming of The Karate Kid he was a first degree black belt.
He was promoted to GrandMaster Ju Dan (10th) degree in 2012.
Has been credited with "inventing" the crane kick technique - but clarifies that the leg-up stance and the arms spread-like-wings was described by writer Robert Mark Kamen. Vidal created the hand-movements and stances before and after the kick.
Runs his own kenpo karate school in Murrieta, California.
