Barry Took nació el 19 de junio de 1928 en Reino Unido. Fue un escritor y productor, conocido por Marty (1968), Laugh-In (1967) y Grubstreet (1972). Murió el 31 de marzo de 2002 en Londres, Inglaterra.
One of his first jobs was as a comic in Holmfirth in West Yorkshire. He
suggested the town as the setting for Last of the Summer Wine (1973) to the
show's first series producer James Gilbert prior to production.
