- Acclaimed cinetic sculptor.
- He started out creating sculptures, taking inspiration from sources ranging from ancient Greek art to Pablo Picasso. He worked mainly in plaster and wrought iron before becoming interested in magnetism, electricity and sound. He spent much of his early career in Paris and London.
- In the late 1960s, he was recruited to the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, where he developed the scientific foundation of his artistic work.
