- In 2000, while shooting Across The Line in the Mojave Desert more than two hours from Los Angeles, David was informed he had booked a commercial for Kansas City Power and Light, shooting in Kansas City at 8:00 A.M. the next day. Things looked impossible, but the producers of the two projects put their heads together and at the end of the shoot day a helicopter landed on set and whisked David off to LAX so he could make his flight. The commercial folks were very happy and the low-budget movie makers got the added bonus of a helicopter shot!.

- In January 2013, David was elected the President of ACTRA Toronto, the largest local of the Alliance of Canadian Cinema, Television and Radio Artists, representing over 13,000 audiovisual performers in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. He had previously served as the VP of Member Services since 2005.
- On May 14th, 2017, David was elected National President of the Canadian actor's union, ACTRA, the Alliance of Canadian Cinema, Television and Radio Artists, helping to represent the work-life interests of over 23 thousand professional union performers working in recorded media.
