- Cousin of Ahmet Zappa, with whom she starred in Pump Up the Volume (1990). Her other cousins are Diva Zappa, Dweezil Zappa, and Moon Unit Zappa. Lala is also the niece of Frank Zappa.
- Tried out for, but did not get, the role of "Casey" in Prayer of the Rollerboys (1990); this would have been her third film with Corey Haim, who personally recommended Lala for the part. Said role ultimately went to Patricia Arquette.

- Has a daughter named Lula Henrietta (Lu Henry); the name combines that of Jodie Foster's character from Bugsy Malone (1976) with Lala's mother's middle name. Another the names Lala considered for her baby (while expecting), before deciding on that one, was "Calliope".

- Once injured herself while surfing, when her leg was slit by the board's fin. She still has a 6-inch scar from the mishap.
- Worked with Oscar-winning director William Friedkin as a nanny for his sons. Yet she never appeared in any of Friedkin's movies.
