Josh Shipp should have grown up a thug. Abandoned at birth and shuttled from one abusive foster home to the next, he was suicidal and addicted by the time he hit adolescence. Lifetime has picked up the adolescent intervention series Teen Trouble, the network announced today. Lifetime has ordered eight episodes of the unscripted one-hour show. Set to debut on December 28, Teen Trouble will chronicle efforts to pull out-of-control teenagers back from the brink of drugs, drink, depression and self-destruction. The show will be hosted by Josh Shipp, who formerly was an advice correspondent on MTV’s Trl and the author of The Teen’s Guide To World Domination. RelativityREAL’s Ellen Rakieten Entertainment division is producing. Ellen Rakieten and former Intervention producer Bryn Freedman will executive produce with Lifetime’s Rob Sharenow, Gena McCarthy, Stephen H. Schwartz and Sandy Varo of Lifetime.
