Tall, sleepy-eyed British stage and screen actor, on stage from the age of six. Entered films in 1929, adept at musical comedies and melodramas. A decidedly theatrical type, he generally sported a monocle and a handle-bar moustache. Shine was usually typecast as affable dandies, silly-ass bunglers or slightly dense aristocrats.

Oddly, despite looking rather posh with his RAF moustache, Bill Shine often played lower-class people, especially in the earlier part of his career.
