Paul Schmitt(I)
- Producer
- Production Manager
- Second Unit Director or Assistant Director
Paul Schmitt founded the Hollywood based production company, Gamblers
Ruin, with his longtime filmmaking conspirator Bill Gilman. Schmitt and
visual effects wiz Gilman produced an innovative music video titled
"Uninvisible" performed by Medeski Martin & Wood, and an official
selection of the 2003 L.A. IFP Film Festival. Long standing fans of HD
technology, Gilman and Schmitt completed their latest HD film project,
the thought-provoking short film Proposition 13, which most recently
screened at the 2003 New Orleans Media Experience. On the lighter side,
Schmitt, a fan of comedy and a funny guy, also produced the raw,
absurd, and unapologetic short film "Keisha vs. Geisha", an official
selection of the 2003 Slamdance Film Festival. As a follow up, he
produced and composed the score for another comedic short "Crazy
Chicks!", an irreverent spoof on the cultural phenomena that is Girls
Gone Wild, directed by a Chicago Improv Olympic alum, and now wife,
Andrea Gall Schmitt.
In the early days of his career, Schmitt started out as a hardworking producers assistant at the independent production company Sneak Preview Productions (Tollbooth, Bird of Prey, Relax It's Just Sex). Later, turning his interest to the marketing side, he left for a position in the marketing department at Savoy Pictures and ultimately moved on to The National Research Group. Currently, Paul is a VP at First Movies, an entertainment research firm based in Hollywood. Schmitt is a graduate of the University of Southern California's Marshall School of Business in 1993.
