As IV stage of stomach cancer is inoperable, all that the doctors could do was to prescribe a course of chemotherapy, which she underwent in December. However, this only led to a deterioration of her condition - she was tormented by severe pains in the region of the liver which could only be blocked with the help of narcotic medications. The disease developed rapidly in the last months of life. The first reports about this in the press appeared on February 1, 2010. The relatives wanted to send her abroad for treatment, but did not have time. The disease became irreversible, and most doctors, particularly experts from Israel and Germany, refused to treat her believing that it was too late to save Anna. In her last days, Anna refused treatment. After spending a few days at home, she agreed to move to the hospice in the village of Pargolovo. She died on February 8, 2010 at 2 am at the age of 48. She was buried on February 10, 2010 at the Smolensk cemetery of St. Petersburg, next to the grave of her ex-mother-in-law, the mother of her first husband.
