Jacek Rotmil was born on November 24, 1888 in St. Petersburg, Russian Empire [now Russia]. He was an art director and production designer, known for Spy (1933), Bedzie lepiej (1936) and Zapomniana melodia (1938). He died on July 31, 1944 in Warsaw, Mazowieckie, Poland.
He was one of a large number of Polish film personnel to die during the Second World War.
He was able to continue his film career in Germany at the beginning of the 30s till to the takeover of the National Socialists.
The production designer Jacques Rotmil - who also used the name Jacek Rotmil in Poland - was born in St. Petersburg. He finished an education as architect and engineer.
When Germany invaded Poland he was caught up with that political horror he fled from Germany some years ago. He went into hiding and joined the underground. Later he was picked up and put in prison in Warsaw. There he was executed on July 26, 1944.
As a Jew he had to fled from Germany in 1933 and he went to Warsaw where he was able to continue his film career because he already worked for first Polish movies from 1930.
