- Met his wife, Kelly Coffield Park, on the set of In Living Color (1990) as cast members.
- Shortly after Park appeared in Fargo (1996), he was heavily criticized by much of the Asian American community for portraying a role as an Asian American in a non-positive light. Inspired by the "mission statement" in Jerry Maguire (1996), he wrote his own personal statement in which he responded to criticism of his role in Fargo and generally blasted most of Hollywood for how they treat Asian American actors. He wants the statement to be a call for action for Asian American actors and actresses.
- He auditioned for the role of In Living Color (1990) after seeing a skit parodying the Spike Lee movie Do the Right Thing (1989), in which Steve plays the role of a Korean shop owner.
- Professionally now uses the name "Stephen Park," which was the name he used prior to working as an actor.
- Graduated from Vestal High School, Vestal, New York.
