One of ten children, she graduated from West Charlotte High School in
1981, then attended East Carolina University.
Began her career working at the college radio station, WZMB (1982).
Worked on camera, writing, producing, and anchoring morning news breaks
at the NBC affiliate in Spokane, Washington (1986). Became weekend
anchor and reporter for
A Current Affair (1986), and
named anchor when then-anchor
Maury Povich
moved to daytime talk (1991). Became main anchor for the entertainment
news magazine show,
Extra (1994).
Since 2004, leading anchor on WBTV in Charlotte, NC.
