Bob Marley
, and recorded his song "Stir It Up".
Began as a pop singer in the 1950s.
As of 2005, was the owner and operator of the Johnny Nash Indoor Arena in Houston, TX.
As a teen he frequently appeared on Houston's KPRC's "Matinee" and Arthur Godfrey's TV and radio shows in the mid-'50s.
On his label JAD Records he released Bob Marley, Peter Tosh, Bunny Livingston & The Cowsills.
Graduated from Jack Yates High School in Houston, Texas.
Began his singing career at the Progressive New Hope Baptist Church in Houston, Texas.
Was profiled by Cameron Crowe for Zoo World in April 1973.
Formed JAD Records with Danny Sims and Arthur Jenkins. Sims was best known for booking lecture tours for Malcolm X.
Has two children: one son Johnny III, and one daughter Monica.
