- Sept 2003: "It is fascinating to watch legislators turn away from their usual corporate grips when they hear the growing thunder of the people."
- July 2003: "We need to stimulate communities all over our land to start arboretums, not just as oases of beauty and tranquility but as living teachers of plant life and conservation."
- Nov 2003: "The nation is faced with one of the most corporate-orientated anti-consumer Congresses in our history."
- I once said to my father, when I was a boy, 'Dad we need a third political party.' He said to me, 'I'll settle for a second.'
- If God hadn't meant for us to eat sugar, he wouldn't have invented dentists.
- Nobody is more fearful of a left-right alliance than the plutocrats and the oligarchs. People define themselves as powerless and out of the equation. And that is self-fulfilling.
- In no other Western democracy is it remotely as difficult for candidates to get on the ballot and give more choices and voices to the voters. Third-party suppression is an American specialty - one I've experienced firsthand. What is tragic is that this creates a pattern: since independent or third-party candidates do not have a chance to win, the media don't give them the coverage needed to compete and grow - even when they actually represent a majority of Anericans' beliefs. It is a vicious cycle.
