New Delhi, Aug 26 (Ians) Former Australian cricketer Tom Moody discussed the similarities between two modern-day batting greats in Virat Kohli and Babar Azam in the 50-over format game, saying the Pakistan skipper reminds him a lot about the talismanic Indian batter.
“I think absolutely he is. He does remind me very much of Virat Kohli, the way he goes about his business. He plays authentic cricket shots. He seems to understand, read the game very well, which Kohli has done for over a decade. He is a good chaser as well like Virat Kohli has proven to be over many, many years.”
“So, there’s so much likeness between the two and I wouldn’t go as far as saying that Virat is gonna have a better Asia Cup than Babar Azam, but they both can have equal pressure on them and it’s gonna be a delight to watch...

New Delhi, Aug 23 (Ians) Former India cricketer Sanjay Manjrekar spoke about the flexibility of the Indian line-up, saying that the whole debate will be around how India’s No. 4, 5 and 6 in batting lineup would look ahead of the upcoming Asia Cup.
Right-handed middle-order batters K L Rahul and Shreyas Iyer have been selected in India’s squad for the upcoming Asia Cup, happening from August 30 to September 17, after recovering in time from a right thigh and back injury respectively.
The availability of Iyer and Rahul, who also has a niggle to deal with which is unrelated to his original injury, had been India’s huge concerns. With the top six not having a left-handed batter, Tilak Varma, who has impressed in T20Is till now, has got a maiden call-up to the Odi squad via the six-team event, with Suryakumar Yadav retained in the 17-member squad.

New Delhi, May 14 (Ians) Former Australia cricketer Tom Moody believes that Virat Kohli’s passion drives every team that he’s part of and it is the same with Royal Challengers Bangalore in Indian Premier League.
Kohli has scored 420 runs in 11 matches so far in the ongoing Ipl 2023 season and Rcb will be hoping their star batter once again inspires them to win as they face a quality Rajasthan Royals side in Jaipur.
Both teams are heading into the game with contrasting results in their previous outings – Rajasthan Royals thrashed Kkr by 9 wickets courtesy a Yashasvi Jaiswal special, whereas Rcb were handed a thumping by Mumbai Indians, who chased down a 200-run target with 21 balls to spare.
“Virat Kohli is a very emotional and competitive player. It has been the case with several other greats of the game for it is their passion which drives them. Virat is one of those players,...

New Delhi, April 30 (Ians) Former Australian all-rounder Tom Moody reckoned that Delhi Capitals (DC) made a tactical mistake by sending Axar Patel down at number seven during their run chase against SunRisers Hyderabad (Srh) at the Arun Jaitley Stadium.
DC failed to chase down the 198-run target as they were restricted to 188/6 in 20 overs. Mayank Markande led from the front with the ball with an excellent spell of 4-0-20-2 as Srh bowlers bounced back hard and survived Phil Salt (59 off 35) and Mitchell Marsh’s blitzes (63 off 39) to break the three-match losing streak on Saturday night.
Axar was sent in to bat after the likes of Priyam Garg and Sarfaraz Khan, both of whom were dismissed cheaply and remained unbeaten on 29 off 14 balls. With 49 needed off 18, Axar smacked a six off Bhuvneshwar and took 14 off the 18th over. With 35 needed off 12, Natarajan bowled another excellent over as he nailed...

New Delhi, April 10 (Ians) Royal Challengers Bangalore (Rcb) return home after a forgettable outing against Kolkata Knight Riders in their previous match in Ipl. The Rcb will face Lucknow Super Giants on Monday.
The Faf du Plessis-led side will look to learn from the mistakes and continue their winning momentum in front of a packed M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru.
For Rcb to get the desired results in Ipl, they need to perform as a unit instead of depending on the individual brilliance of a few. Virat Kohli, the Rcb talisman, and captain Faf du Plessis have been the backbone of their batting unit so far.
According to former India cricketer Sunil Gavaskar, Kohli is looking in ominous touch in the T20 format lately but would definitely require the support of other batters in the side in Tata Ipl 2023.
Speaking to Star Sports, Gavaskar said, “This year Rcb are banking on Kohli.

Lucknow, April 8 (Ians) Former Sunrisers Hyderabad head coach Tom Moody said the 2016 Ipl champions having a majorly right-handed batting line-up was a problem which played a role in them going down to Lucknow Super Giants by five wickets in Friday’s match of Ipl 2023.
On a slow and low black soil pitch, Hyderabad’s batting line-up struggled hugely to score 121/8 in their 20 overs. Moreover, they didn’t have a left-handed batter in their top order, due to leaving out Abhishek Sharma for Anmolpreet Singh, with Washington Sundar being the lone left-handed batting option.
“The thing that screams out to me is that they left the auction table knowing they had a team full of right-handers. They released a left-hander in Nicholas Pooran who hit the winning run [for Lucknow on Friday] and they brought someone who was 30% more expensive, who is a right-hander (Harry Brook)….similar sort of impact player,” said Moody on ESPNcricinfo’s T20 Time Out show.

Mumbai, April 8 (Ians) The Ipl 2023 will witness its first big clash of the first half with five-time champions Mumbai Indians taking on four-time winners Chennai Super Kings at the Wankhede Stadium.
After Rajasthan Royals face off against Delhi Capitals in the first electrifying encounter of the doubleheader.
Former India cricketer Yusuf Pathan has backed Mumbai Indians to win the game as beating the five-time champions at Wankhede Stadium has always been an uphill task for the Super Kings. Yusuf Pathan, an Ipl legend, went on to say that beating Mumbai in their backyard isn’t going to be easy for M.S. Dhoni-led Csk.
Speaking to Star Sports, the official broadcaster of Tata Ipl, Yusuf Pathan said, “Fans in Mumbai will always want Ms Dhoni to entertain them with his performance but wish Mumbai Indians to win the match. But you see it is difficult to beat Mi at home.

New Delhi, April 6 (Ians) Former Sunrisers Hyderabad head coach Tom Moody believes that a player of Shimron Hetmyers calibre should come to bat after Jos Buttler and captain Sanju Samson in the Rajasthan Royals’ line-up not lower down the order as West Indian is capable of playing more number of overs.
Chasing 198 against Punjab Kings in Guwahati, Royals were reduced to 91/4 in 11 overs. The equation then went down to 77 runs needed off 36 deliveries. Hetmyer, coming out to bat at number seven, took Royals close with his 18-ball 36 blitz, though he fell in the final over as the 2008 Ipl champions fell short by five runs.
“I think he’s a far better player than that. He is not a (Kieron) Pollard or Andre Russell type player that’s geared for the last six overs. Both these players are obviously Ipl icons so they’ve got specific skill sets. Hetmyer can potentially...

The experts panel at Star Sports feels that Virat Kohli and Ruturaj Gaikwad – who are the frontrunners in the Orange Cap race – might actually end up winning it by the end of yet another exciting season.
They also said that Rajasthan Royals star spinner Yuzvendra Chahal and Gujarat Titans’ talisman Rashid Khan are primed to win the Purple Cap, awarded to the most successful bowler at the end of the tournament.

Dubai, Jan 14 (Ians) Spin-bowling all-rounder Dhruv Parashar has been named as a replacement player for the Desert Vipers’ Dp World ILT20 campaign, replacing his injured UAE U-19 teammate Ronak Panoly.
Panoly’s left shoulder injury restricts his ability to field, which means he would not be able to operate at the capacity necessary for the tournament.
Desert Vipers Director of Cricket Tom Moody expressed his disappointment for Ronak and said: “Obviously a big setback for him. He was full of excitement as you would expect as an exciting young player out of the UAE, to join the Desert Vipers. But unfortunately, from a fitness standpoint, and for his own assurance to get his shoulder back in order the decision was made to release him.
“Ronak will stay with the squad to receive treatment and to feel part of the group. He is an impressive young man, and we hope to...

Ipl 2023: It will be a tough call for Mumbai Indians to release Kieron Pollard, says Harbhajan Singh
New Delhi, Nov 14 (Ians) Former India off-spinner Harbhajan Singh feels that it will be a tough call for five-time Ipl champions to release T20 stalwart and former West Indies cricketer Kieron Pollard ahead of the mini-auction to be held on December 23 in Kochi.
Pollard was bought by Mumbai in 2009 and rose to become a legendary figure with the side, playing a pivotal role in winning Ipl titles on all five occasions. But Pollard was a shadow of his dominating self in Ipl 2022, sitting out the last three matches as the side finished at the bottom of the points table.
“Well, I think it’s going to be very difficult for Mumbai Indians to release Kieron Pollard. He’s been there for many years. But yes, there are times when you have to take a few tough calls and maybe this is the time. They have to move forward and make...

London, Aug 24 (Ians) Tall left-arm pacer Reece Topley has pulled out of remainder of The Hundred competition in order to be fit in time for England’s campaign in the Icc Men’s T20 World Cup, to be held in Australia in October-November.
Topley was the standout bowler for England in their white-ball matches this summer, picking 17 wickets across 10 appearances in series against India and South Africa. He took five wickets in his four matches for Oval Invincibles in the ongoing Hundred.
“I’ve been feeling the effects of a busy summer more and more over the last few weeks. Taking a short break feels like a sensible precaution to avoid injury and the risk of a longer lay-off. Nonetheless, I’m disappointed not to be contributing as the team enters a crucial period in the competition,” said Topley in a statement.

Bio has ordered ten half-hour episodes of the not-yet-titled series. The show will follow her move from Alaska to Los Angeles with her son, Tripp, to work at a small charity in need while living with her good friends Chris and Kyle Massey.
Speaking of the star of their new reality show, Executive Vice President of Programming for A&E and the Bio Channel, David McKillop, said, "Bristol is the kind of personality Bio is drawn to." Bristol Palin is making it a reality show hat trick.
The daughter of former Alaska Governor Sarah Palin is set to star in a new docu-series for the Bio network, in which she moves in with "Dancing With the Stars," cast mate Kyle Massey and his brother Christopher. According to Bio's press release, the series, set to air in late 2011, "follows Bristol Palin's move from Alaska to Los Angeles with her son, Tripp, to work at a small charity in need while living with her good friends Chris and Kyle Massey."
Palin, of course, has experience with cameras in her home; she was part of mom Sarah's TLC show "Sarah Palin's Alaska." This one, one would assume, will have less shooting of animals.
It was recently revealed that Palin made $262,000 for her work with a teen pregnancy prevention group, The Candie's Foundation. She'll also be releasing a memoir of sorts this summer.
