Last year, Danish, Icelandic and Norwegian films triumphed with local audiences, fueling general attendance. In Sweden, local fare also upped their share of an overall sluggish market, while Finland had a quieter year after a record 2017. Everywhere “Mamma Mia-Here We Go Again” was number one except in Denmark where local films were back in favor.
Denmark
After two years of slide, Danish films were back in favour with local crowds, and boosted general admissions to 13 million (up 4.6%) and box office to Dkk 1.1 billion ($173 million). With 3.8 million admissions (up 34.2% from 2017), representing Dkk 290.9 million ($44.5 million) in revenue, local titles claimed a 29% market share, the success target just set in new Danish Film Agreement for 2019-2023.
“In a country like Denmark with a relatively small feature film production [21 films in 2018], the box office will inevitably vary from one year to the next,” commented Claus Ladegaard, CEO at the Danish Film Institute. The latter welcomed the...

Blue have described their Go Mad in Ibiza ITV2 show as "all about fun [and] banter".
Duncan James said fans can expect to see the "band in a different light" during the show.
James said: "They'll get to see just how close mates us Blue boys are. It's all about fun, banter and seeing the band in a different light."
The show, which sees the band attempt to run a bar, saw Blue faced with challenges including flamboyant PRs, demanding customers and irritating members of staff.
What the band didn't know is that all these people were played by actors.
Antony Costa said: "They fooled us all, they were too good. Jc [the PR representative] and Eggy [the barman] were great people and gave Hollywood worthy performances. They deserve movie roles with how good they were."
James added: "We got to work with a brilliant team and it was an absolute pleasure to get to know them all.

Lee Ryan will seek ''professional help'' for personal issues following his arrest. The Blue singer was arrested yesterday (11.04.14) on suspicion of drink driving and later charged with failure to provide a specimen and criminal damage, and it is said those close to him are concerned. In a statement, a spokesperson said: ''This low point has caused considerable concern to Lee's family, loved ones and of course the Blue boys. ''Worried about his recent erratic behaviour, management have now intervened and taken appropriate action. ''No excuses will be made on Lee's behalf, but he will be seeking professional help for those issues that he...

The Big Reunion is on tour again, but this time it's a lads only affair, with 5ive, Blue, 911, Damage, 5th Story, 3T and A1 heading to an arena near you in October.
Digital Spy got on the phone with 5ive's Sean Conlon and Scott Robinson, and Anthony Costa, Simon Webbe and Lee Ryan of Blue, and quizzed them all about it.
"On the first tour there was a little bit of healthy competition, a little bit of banter. Who's going to play where... who's going to open, who's going to close," Conlon said when asked if there had been a running order squabble fest.
"But we never expected to play arenas again, so this is just a bonus really. I think nobody's bothered anymore, we just want to get on tour, have some fun and just have a great laugh.
"Blue are a little bit later, but we're all bands from the '90s.

Lee Ryan is a perfect gentleman, according to celebrity stylist Gemma Sheppard. The Blue singer came under fire for his womanising antics in the 'Celebrity Big Brother' house, romancing both Jasmine Waltz and Casey Bachelor, but the singer's close friend and stylist insists he is nothing but respectful towards women and once came to her rescue like a ''knight in shining armour''. Gemma exclusively told Bang Showbiz: ''I worked with the Blue boys for many years, Lee wears his heart on his sleeve ... he's such a genuinely lovely guy. Earlier this year, I was coming back from one of their gigs,...

Recently I did a fascinating interview with the multiple award winning and Pulitzer Prize finalist, actress and playwright, Dael Orlandersmith, who is pretty much used to making waves and challenging audiences to deal with subjects that people find difficult to talk about, and to bring them out into the open. Her previous works, such as Stoop Stories, Yellowman and Horsedreams, have dealt with racism, urban strife, relationships and color consciousness among African –Americans, and have won her numerous acclaim in productions across the country, and several awards including the Obie Award. Now the New York City native, in her new play, Black N' Blue Boys/Broken Men,...
