In 2005, producer Joseph Medawar and Alison Heruth-Waterbury were arrested by federal authorities on charges of defrauding investors in a supposed TV series called "DHS", about the Department of Homeland Security. Authorities said that Medawar and Heruth-Waterbury bilked more than $5 million from investors for this TV show--which never came to fruition--and Heruth-Waterbury was supposed to be the series' star. The US Attorney's Office said that the pair used the money they got to pay for their "lavish lifestyle" and had never intended to use the money for a TV series. Medawar got 4 years in prison and she received 5 years probation.
