Shane Acker ("9") is teaming with Ireland's Brown Bag Films, along with "Half-Life" and "Portal" video game series developers Valve, on Acker's new action adventure feature "Deep" reports Variety.
Set in a post-apocalyptic world, what's left of humanity shelters undersea in the hulks of sunken ships. Sullivan, a captain of a nuclear sub, makes contact with a splinter group of superior scientific intelligence who have the power to save the earth - one that could come at a terrible cost.
Jack Barton Mitchell penned the script for the $18.7 million feature which Darragh O'Connell and Gregory R. Little will produce.
Valve's tools and technologies, namely its Source engine, are being used for real-time rendering, editing, simplified character animation and economical lighting for the feature.
