Gervase Peterson urges ‘Survivor’ to be ‘more equally diverse,’ both on-screen and behind the scenes
This summer marks the 20th anniversary of “Survivor” premiering on CBS, and Gervase Peterson is now speaking out about his experience. “I honestly don’t have any regrets” about either of the two times he played, he tells EW.com. This fan-fave original castaway came in seventh place in “Borneo” (2000) and third place in “Blood vs. Water” (2013). “It changed my life, and I have loved every minute of playing it.” Gervase also opens up about what he’d change about the long-running reality TV show, proclaiming, “I would make ‘Survivor’ more equally diverse.”
He continues, “For years, it was a standard of one Black man and one Black woman. That’s just terrible. Also, more diversity in casting and production. This would help in a more diverse cast and the telling of the diverse cast stories and not labeling them with negative stereotypes. It’s been long overdue.” Over the first 40 seasons of “Survivor,...

Even though more than 600 castaways have played the game of “Survivor” over the past two decades, fans have never forgotten B.B. Andersen. This original cast member from the iconic first season was the second person voted off the island when he was 64 years old. After the show wrapped, B.B. lived for another 13 years until his death at age 77 from brain cancer. (He’s one of six dead “Survivor” castaways — see photos above.) Let’s all raise a torch to the late B.B. Andersen, who was voted out of “Survivor: Borneo” 20 years ago this week.

This week marks the 20th anniversary of one of the most iconic gross-out moments in reality TV: Gervase Peterson eating grub worms on the second episode of the first season of “Survivor.” The date was June 7, 2000. Gervase’s Pagong tribe had won the previous week’s inaugural immunity challenge and was spared from voting someone out at tribal council, so they came into this second challenge with a lot to lose. All they had to do was eat grub worms faster than their Tagi tribe counterparts, and a fresh-faced Jeff Probst would give them the immunity idol again. How did it all play out? Watch the “Survivor: Borneo” flashback video above.

“In Borneo this is considered like sushi,” Jeff explained as he revealed the fish bowl filled with dirty beetle larvae.

Rylan Clark-Neal and pals take on The Crystal Maze for Stand Up To Cancer this week. Here’s how they got on…
Du du du duuuuurr Du-duh.

Du du du duuuuurr Du-duh.
Du du du Duuuuurr Dur Dur Dur Dur Duh!
The Crystal Maze music alone makes me happy.
It isn’t just nostalgia. Aside from that time Dean Goodall’s mum ironed his shell suit then made him wear it to the year seven summer disco, the early nineties weren’t even that much fun. They were listless days that passed in a scrunchie-fuelled haze. Pogs came and pogs went. We drowned our ennui by drinking melted blue ice poles and doing the Time Warp. Again.
No, the joy of The Crystal Maze is intrinsic.

E3 is an exciting time of year for all types of gamers as the show expands into many different categories. Mobile gamers can be excited for new social interactions, and maybe even some new hardware, and of course hardcore gamers can see what the next few years have for them. Here at Cinelinx we are excited for our own reasons and well, we can’t wait to tell you why. Want to know what’s got us excited? Find out after the jump!
Dustin:
Last year, overall, E3 was kind of a dull moment for many reasons. Sure we got a glimpse into Microsoft’s future with Project Scorpio, after the promised they wouldn’t be doing that, but they kind of forgot to bring the unit with them. Sony had a stellar opening showcase and showed off many games, but a majority of them are still unreleased, and undated.

With 2016 on its way out, we’re counting down the Top 10 Best Video Game Trailers from the departing year! Come inside to find out if your favorite made the list!
The year 2016 had many highs and lows, but some of the high points have been the stellar amount of game trailers we’ve witnessed. Every year, game studios put a lot of time, effort, and money into wowing players, in order to get them excited for their upcoming games. The trailers we witnessed throughout 2016 did not disappoint and as the year draws to a close, we’re giving them the credit they’re due.
Forming this Top 10 list was a double-edged sword. On one hand, I got to experience all these incredible trailers once again. On the other hand, I had to sort through hundreds of trailers and narrow it down to the 10 best. You may find a few selections controversial,...

With the next wave of consoles now in the wild, we look at the most important games of the last generation of videogaming...
Now that the Xbox One and PlayStation 4 are adorning living rooms around the world, and PCs are more powerful than ever, the gaming industry is spending a lot of time looking forward, speculating about the kind of titles we can expect to see from the new platforms. The eighth generation of consoles promises to be pretty special, even if the step up in power isn't quite as noticeable as previous generational leaps have been. Both units, regardless of your particular stance or fandom allegiance, are powerful and will doubt offer some great games, many of which will redefine genres and what we expect and demand from games in future. They'll change the gaming world once again, just as their predecessors did,...

A good protagonist should embody everything a gamer wants to be, or alternatively have interesting flaws that make us involved with their personality and characters. The protagonist, at no point, should be flat, one-dimensional, boring, annoying, pathetic or make us want them to die, just to escape the monotony.
This past generation, we’ve seen many great heroes rise up to the challenge. Sack Boy, despite being just, well…a sack, made us fall in love with his crazy expression and array of outfits. Some, like Raiden from Metal Gear Solid, managed to redeem themselves after being a floppy haired moron in his previous gaming attempts. If you’ve sucked in the past, coming back as a blade-wielding killing machine in a cyborg suit is a sure-fire way to redeem yourself.
The list goes on and on. Nathan Drake, Joel from the Last of Us, Solid Snake, Chell...

2013 has been a great year for TV. We saw the introduction of a ton of amazing new series, said goodbye to some of the greatest shows that will ever air, and watched as streaming sites became legitimate networks. Annual video game awards show change name, format, and broadcast exclusively online to show off amazing game footage, but is that enough?
On Saturday evening, Spike brought their annual Vga awards online for the first time in its history. The awards, now retitled Vgx, was a three hour webcast event exclusively streamed on Viacoms Cable Network websites, Yahoo Screen, Xbox Live and Twitch. The event, which was hosted by Gametrailers own Geoff Keighley and Joel McHale(Community, The Soup) eschewed the traditional large award show format of previous years and instead replaced it with a format of interviews, award presentation, trailer reveals and audience participation, which drew mixed commentary from the audience. However, the evening had its share of highlights and lowlights, both from developers and the talent themselves

Fox has picked up four dramas, including Greg Kinnear's "Rake," for the 2013-2014 season, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
"Rake" is Kinnear's broadcast TV debut, with Miranda Otto and John Ortiz co-starring. According to Deadline, "Rake" is being considered for a midseason launch in the vein of "The Following," one of the few hits of last season. Kinnear will play a "House"-esque criminal defense lawyer named Keegan Deane, described as "brilliant and frustratingly charming ... whose chaotic and self-destructive personal life often gets in the way of his professional one. He takes on the cases that nobody else will touch, ruled by a resolute optimism, belief in justice and dogged determination to defend those who seem beyond redemption -- much like himself." Sam Raimi directed the pilot, and the show was created by Peter Duncan, who came up with the original Australian version.
