Efim Kamenetsky was born on July 27, 1935, in Penza, Russia, USSR (now
Penza, Russia). In 1958 he graduated from State Pedagogical Institute
as an actor and teacher. From 1960-1968 he was an actor in Kazan,
Tatarstan, Russia.
From 1969-1986 Kamenetsky was a permanent member of the Leningrad
Theatre of Lensovet under directorship of
Igor Vladimirov.
Since 1987 Kamenetsky has been a permanent member of the troupe at the
Theatre of Komissarzhevskoi in St. Petersburg.
Kamenetsky was designated the title of Honorable Artist of Russia. He
played more than 100 roles on stage. He also taught acting classes in
Russia, Poland, and England. He directed a London stage production of
'Crime and Punishment' based on the novel by
Fyodor Dostoevsky. Kamenetsky is
currently residing in St. Petersburg, Russia.
