According to his autobiography "Odyssey of an Eavesdropper (2005)", his clients once included "FBI, CIA, DOD, DIA, NIS, NSA, DMA and DEA -- as well as the Secret Service, the intelligence commands of the army, navy, air force, customs, and state and local law enforcement agencies."
- Was the inspiration for the characters Gene Hackman played in the movies The Conversation (1974) and Enemy of the State (1998).
- Was a target of FBI retaliation and practically driven out of the eavesdropping and countermeasure business after testifying before the National Wiretap Commission in 1975 about FBI's illegal price markups on the invoices for the equipment he sold them.
