Wojciech Jaruzelski was born on July 6, 1923 in Kurów, Lubelskie, Poland. He was married to Barbara Jaruzelska. He died on May 25, 2014 in Warsaw, Mazowieckie, Poland.
He was the army general who introduced martial law in Poland on
December 13th, 1981 (and which lasted until July 1983).
Has a daughter, Monika (born ca. 1962), who is a journalist.
He and his family were deported to Siberia by the Red Army during WWII. His father died there, and Jaruzelski suffered snow blindness, which forced him to wear dark glasses the rest of his life.
