He split his time between New York City; Bellport, Long Island; and Costa Rica.
He is survived by his brother, Bruce Jacobs of Anacortes, Washington, his sister-in-law Mrs. Stuart Jacobs of Cincinatti, Ohio, and his partner Darren Moser of New York City.
He was a patron of the arts and progressive causes through the Carl Jacobs Foundation.
He reviewed plays for the Cincinatti Enquirer newspaper.
He was a graduate of Taft School and Yale University in New Haven, Connecticut.
