- Former law-enforcement officer, she made headlines when she told Keith Ablow on his show (broadcast on November 14, 2006) that she would have thrown her daughter Anna Nicole Smith out of her house if she caught her with drugs. She was on the show to plead with Anna Nicole (not on the program) to get off drugs before it was too late. Less than three months later, Anna Nicole died of a drug overdose.
- Fought with both Howard K. Stern and Larry Birkhead for custody of her granddaughter Dannielynn Birkhead. Ultimately, a paternity test proved that Larry Birkhead is Dannielynn's natural father and he was granted custody of the baby. Virgie launched an appeal, and lost, and Larry was allowed to leave the Bahamas with his daughter.
