- During the 1930's, Grimminger rose to become a Colonel in the German SS. He gained notoriety after being selected to become the bearer of the esteemed "Blood Flag" which was the Nazi banner used in a 1923 coup attempt against the Bavarian government. The flag, as claimed, had been splatered with the blood of those killed on that day. Grimminger was also a City Council Member in Munich. After World War II, most of Grimminger's assests were seized by the Allied De-Nazification Court, and he died in poverty in the 1970s.
