- Perry was primarily a film set designer drawing (drafting) film projects. Perry was a member of the Set Designer's studio union. Romaine Johnson, a television Production Designer, hired Perry to draw and assist on his TV series projects. Working with Johnson, Perry joined the Society of Motion Pictures Art Directors Guild, as an assistant TV art director. Perry, serious and a quick wit, drew meticulous plans and elevations, and was a fast draftsman quickly drawing Romaine's designs. At NBC-Burbank, they shared an NBC TV Art Department office where the "Flip Wilson Show" was taped on Stage 2. Flip Wilson's production office was also located at the NBC-Burbank studio.
- Perry, carried his black brief case filled with his drafting equipment, every morning to his job sight. Very protective of his tools, he never left his assigned drafting table without packing his equipment in this brief case, carrying his brief case to his sedan. While working on a film project at Twentieth Century Fox Studios, the Fox employee parking lot was situated directly behind the Century Plaza Hotel. Departing the studio, one night, after a long day of drafting, Perry put his brief case beside his sedan's driver side door, forgetting to pick up the brief case beside his car door. Around ten o'clock, a hotel guest noticed this black brief case sitting alone in the paved Fox parking lot. The Los Angeles Police Bomb Squad was alerted, arriving in the parking lot, putting the black brief case into a bucket of water to diffuse the contents. The next morning, Fox Security delivered the soggy case and contents to the Fox Art Department, where Perry resided. Perry was furious with the bomb squad for ruining all his equipment.
