Here Comes The Boom is released today (review coming later) and we’re taking a look at some Leading Men according to Salma Hayek. In Here Comes The Boom, Salma Hayek stars opposite Kevin James as school nurse Bella Flores and witnesses his attempts at trying to save the schools extracurricular activities program by entering a mixed martial arts competition. Hayek is known for her impressive record of contrasting on-screen partnerships with famous actors. Some of them were extremely passionate love affairs, whilst others were more about playful friendships than affection. Kevin James in Grown Up’s (2010) We have previously seen Salma Hayek and Kevin James appear in Grown Up’s. Hayek plays Roxanne, the delectable, if a little highly strung wife of Lenny (Adam Sandler), and Kevin James is Eric, Lenny’s high school buddy. The film tells the story of a group of high-school friends who reunite for...

Director Frank Coraci's Here Comes the Boom is the classic underdog tale of a slacker high school biology teacher (Kevin James) who takes on a mission much larger than anything he had previously undertaken and in the process, garners the support of a motley crew of the people he loves.
Kevin James stars as Scott Voss, a forty-two year old teacher at Wilkinson High School in Boston, Ma. Once a Division I wrestling star in college, he has since become a biology teacher, indifferent towards his students and incapable of making it to class on-time. The one thing he is intent on doing is convincing school nurse Bella Flores (played the perpetually graceful and bafflingly ageless Salma Hayek) to date him. But tragedy strikes in the form of a threat to cut down the school’s extra-curricular programs, particularly the music program, due to budget cuts. Among those threatened...

Here Comes the Boom
Directed by: Frank Coraci
Cast: Kevin James, Henry Winkler, Bas Rutten, Selma Hayek
Running Time: 1 hr 45 mins
Rating: PG-13
Release Date: October 12, 2012
Plot: A lazy science teacher (James) decides he can earn money to save his school’s music program by participating in Mixed Martial Arts fights.
Who’S It For? If you enjoyed spending ten dollars to see Kevin James ride a Segway, or run into a wall in the past, then here’s an upgrade: in Here Comes the Boom, he gets punched in the face more than a couple times. Aside from that, this Adam Sandler-produced comedy is for those who want something to watch while they eat their popcorn.
Expectations: There’s always a chance for an underdog surprise, or a hint of emotion to be felt. What if this movie made me feel something? Wouldn’t that be a nice surprise?...

- The Scorecard Review
Over a year has passed since Zookeeper, so the multiplexes are overdue for another family friendly comedy from Kevin James. Since his TV sitcom ” The King of Queens ” ended James has been a matinee fixture going back to Paul Blart: Mall Cop in 2009. And he’s now firmly established as a member of Adam Sandler’s staple of film stars ( along with Sandler’s old SNL buddies ) as either a headline or supporting player ( in Grown Ups and its upcoming sequel ) or lead. Since Sandler went for the more adult audiences with last Summer’s under-performing That’S My Boy, James is being sent in to scoop up the pre-teen box-office bucks. The new flick, Here Comes The Boom, is an odd mix of subjects. He’s a teacher, so he can have cute interactions with some youngsters. But a good deal of it is set in the ultra-violent world of mixed martial arts competitions.
