- H.M. (Harry) Farrar enlisted in the 51st Brigade, Royal Field Artillery of the British Army in 1917 aged 21, serving in Northern France. His war came to an end in August 1918, when he was repatriated after his brigade was exposed to poison gas. Between the 1920s and 1960s Farrar contributed many pieces of music to the publisher Music, DeWolfe.
- His birth in 1896 was registered at Huddersfield Register Office as Harry Murgatroyd Farrar, but his death in 1966 was registered at Penzance Register Office as Henry Murgatroyd Farrar.
