Stan Duke was born on May 9, 1936 in Portland, Oregon, USA. He was an actor, known for Bracken's World (1969), Police Story (1973) and The Love Bug (1969). He was married to Ellen Duke. He died on March 14, 2007 in Santa Barbara, California, USA.
Was one of the first black television journalists on local Los Angeles
television. His career was cut short when he was sentenced to a
five-year prison sentence for killing his estranged wife's ex-lover in
1971.
Attended Coalinga College and the University of Oregon as an
undergraduate before graduating with a degree in speech from Lewis and
Clark College in Portland, Oregon. Earned a master's degree in
theater/film from UCLA. Completed coursework for a Ph.D. at USC.
Like many African-American men in the 1940s and 50s, he worked as a
railroad porter (for the Union Pacific in Portland). Afterwards, he had
a lifelong love of trains.
Never drank or smoked because he thought doing so would reduce his
chance of being a success.
Worked for TV and radio stations in his hometown of Portland, Oregon,
and in Coalinga and Los Angeles, California.
