- On Wentworth cast member Pamela Rabe: I think there's a reason that's she's done very little TV, because she's done every piece of theatre I can think of. And that's what makes her performances so good.
- He's not a follower or a leader. He's a survivor and a shapeshifter; who forms into whatever he needs to be.
- The Freak could do something with no empathy. Jake can cross the line if he needs to, but he feels the weight of those actions. He does what needs to be done to get out of a situation. He feels the weight later.
- Naturally, it needs to be done tomorrow, so I ring Jacinta, say 'come back', we move the cot again, tape my audition, and wait. I got the gig, Jacinta didn't. She constantly reminds me: 'I go you that role', I promptly came back to Australia and fired my agent and got myself a new one.
- On Wentworth: I can categorically say it's been one of the greatest experiences of my life," People like Pamela [Rabe], Kate Atkinson and Robbie Magasiva and Celia Ireland. These are all actors at the top of their game and I get to walk in and sort of dance with them, and call myself a peer to those guys
- We were thinking of an exit strategy from LA, and I had told my agent back here to keep an eye out because we wanted to come back - basically with our tail between our legs, because it hasn't really gone as we expected.
- Wentworth fans love to hate Jake, in the same way they love to hate Ferguson.
- I called Steve and said, 'What's the story with Wentworth?' He paused and said, 'Look, I'll tell you the truth: when I first heard they were doing a re-imagining of Prisoner. I was worried it would be a bit shit and it would be really disappointing if they messed it up. But honestly, it's so good. I can't stop watching it'
- In saying that, they're both wonderful characters to play, I've really enjoyed both of them. I love the fact that they are different because as an actor, that's you don't want to be typecast as the 'villainous character' or 'the good guy cop', so to do both is a dream.
- Jake's a survivor -- whatever he has to do to survive, he will do. And if that means crossing the line, then so be it -- and I don't think Kieran would do that.
- When you're in a room like that with hundreds of fans the magnitude of what you're doing hits home. Wentworth has touched so many people around the world and gone towards revolutionising the way women are portrayed in the media and on television.
- I'm like, 'I'm just doing my job over here!' and she goes, 'Nup, you're sleeping on the couch... You bastard.' So that's fine, that's good.
- I think its a very important ethos to have. Not to take it personally.
- We're always having a bit of a laugh and a bit of fun.
- You'd get people playing guest roles, come for maybe one or two days, and always the resounding outcome of their experience would be, man that was amazing. What a great experience, to come into this family atmosphere. The great thing is, it's not a family show. We're doing heavy-handed shit here, bashing the shit out of each other, cutting people's eyes out or fingers off. Then we'd go into the lunch-room where everyone's having a big laugh and singing to each other.
- To have this character, and to be working with people I've revered for many years, all these wonderful actors at the top of their game as an actor you have no choice but to step up to that level of performance. You become a better actor and you become a better performer and you become a better person.
- What people will do when placed in a certain situation and forced to survive.
- We got together as a cast in solidarity and said, we are not prepared to make this show under those conditions ... we need to be bashing each other, having sex with each other, kissing each other, shouting at each other and spitting at each other.
