- Roméo Carlès was born on January 16, 1897 in Oran, Algeria. He was an actor and writer, known for Ne bougez plus (1941), Story of Women (1988) and Sins of Paris (1952). He died on September 18, 1971 in Auxerre, Yonne, France.
- Carles was known for dubbing the documentary shorts sent by Universal International from the USA for French theatres and in the process changing the somewhat bland original commentary with something more playful and witty, which made audiences of the time laugh.
