Exclusive: More citizens will head to the polls this year for elections than any other in history, and the political fever has reached Series Mania.
This year’s event in Lille, France contains four political dramas in competition — not surprising given almost 50% of the world will vote for new leaders in more than 64 elections (including the European Union), according to Time magazine.
“It is all things political in 2024,” said Leona Connell, Chief Commercial Officer at Newen Connect, the sales arm of TF1 Group’ owned French sales house’s Newen Studios that will representing two of the highest profile political titles at Series Mania, In the Shadows and 8 Months.
In the Shadows (Dans L’Ombre) comes from Versailles and Rembrandt director Pierre Schoeller, who adapted a novel from former French Prime Minister Edouard Philippe and Gilles Boyer, a political insider who served as Philippe’s advisor.

“Kingdom of the Blind,” “Little Trouble Girls” and “Wind, Talk To Me” were among the projects which won prizes at the milestone 15th edition of Les Arcs Film Festival‘s Industry Village.
The event, held in a popular French Alps resort, was attended by more than 700 professionals, including top sales agents, distributors and festival programmers, on top of high profile talent, such as two-time Palme d’Or winning Ruben Ostlund (“Triangle of Sadness”) who was the festival’s guest of honor.
The growing popularity of Les Arcs’s industry sidebar underscores “the resilience of the independent European film market and the continued interest in original stories along with feature debuts,” said Jeremy Zelnik, an indie producer (“Kubrick by Kubrick”) who heads the Industry Village and co-founded the festival with Pierre-Emmanuel Fleurantin, Guillaume Calop and Fabienne Silvestre.

Seven veterans who have transitioned into various careers and pursuits that inspire others were honored in “Variety Salute to Service” presented by the History Channel. Marine Corp and Navy veteran Montel Williams hosted this year’s special, which premiered Saturday on the History Channel and was produced by A+E Factual Studios.
Williams explained that the veterans highlighted are those who, “continued to answer the call of duty long after their act of service was done.” He first introduced Jeremy Locke, Sgt. 1st Class, U.S. Army (Ret.). Locke cofounded Aerial Recovery, an international disaster response group focused on rescuing people from natural and manmade disasters. Aerial Recovery has rescued more than 8,000 civilians since its inception.
“Our mission statement is to save lives and stop evil. We find veterans that need healing, and then we retrain, repurpose them and we redeploy them out in natural, manmade disasters and to combat human trafficking,...

Hulu's newest true-crime documentary, "Demons and Saviors," has arrived. The film, which premiered Aug. 3, tells the story of Christina Boyer, a woman who was rumored to have telekinetic abilities as a child and was imprisoned for the murder of her 3-year-old daughter as an adult. The documentary lets Boyer tell her story through a series of interviews conducted over the telephone, and features a variety of conversations with people who have often wildly different perspectives on her story.
"Demons and Saviors" doesn't offer easy answers. Instead it focuses on the facts, leaving viewers to decide how they feel about Boyer's story. Here's what we know for sure about the case.
Why Was Christina Boyer Labeled "The Poltergeist Girl" as a Child?
Boyer was born in 1996 in Columbus, Oh. At the age of 14, per ABC News, she began making headlines for her apparent psychic abilities. According to Boyer, it all...

In his new exclusive uInterview, Nate Boyer spoke about how hosting the new Discovery reality show Survive The Raft, especially dealing with the differing opinions of each passenger and the conflicts that ensued.
Boyer explained to uInterview founder Erik Meers that the show is based on an 1973 experiment by anthropologist Santiago Genovés.
“He put 10 people on a raft from radically different backgrounds and they floated from the Canary Islands in Spain to Mexico – 101-day trip. And you know these people with obviously their different beliefs and backgrounds, they brought different skills to the table right,” he said. “And that trip was not without controversy, it was not without struggle. I mean they’re floating across the Atlantic, that’s not gonna be easy for anybody. When she was 14 years old, Christina Boyer was dubbed “poltergeist girl.” Throughout the 1980s, she was celebrated and studied for reportedly possessing telekinetic abilities and inciting ghostly behavior wherever she went. There were always skeptics, of course, but some of the most damning incidents were corroborated by her adoptive family, parapsychologists, and several journalists — a front-page newspaper photo of a telephone flying across the room without being touched became, at the time, the ultimate proof that something supernatural was really happening.
Years later, in 1992, Boyer was sent to jail for the murder of her 3-year-old daughter, Amber. She was once again in the media, this time being labeled as a monster and a bad mother. Her nickname was used to turn the public against her, and she’s remained in prison ever since for a crime she says she didn’t commit.

Two questions linger over the new ABC News Studios/Hulu limited docuseries Demons & Saviors. Did Christina Boyer possess some kind of telekinetic power? And, more pertinently, did she murder her three-year-old daughter, a crime for which she has been incarcerated in Georgia since 1992? Demons & Saviors does its best to merge these two stories, largely by suggesting Boyer’s sensationalist labeling as “the poltergeist girl” helped a small-town Georgia legal system railroad her behind bars. The end result sometimes feels like two different documentaries, but the impact is still considerable,...

Discovery+ has a hit on its hands with Survive the Raft, a new reality series that puts nine people from different walks of life on a raft for 21 days.
There, they must live and work in close contact as they come against adverse weather, differing opinions, and much more.
It's the perfect social experiment with some strategy thrown in for good measure. TV Fanatic got the chance to speak with host Nate Boyer about being a part of the project.
The project enticed him on the concept alone.
"The idea of these very diverse people being thrust into this environment where they're forced to get to know one another, and they're forced to have not only conversations, but experience things that are challenging, and understand that just because somebody thinks and feels and believes something different than them, it doesn't mean they can't work together."
"It doesn't mean we can't become great friends or close.
