Maureen Black
- Additional Crew
Maureen Black began her canine behavioral training in 1984 with her
first dog "Mescalito". Mescalito was a yellow labrador mix for sale in
the local paper for $30. Mescalito was destined for the big screen and
played "Johnson" in the 1990 film Kid, in addition to achieving
multiple American Kennel Club awards. This was only her first dog! A
lifelong passion for animals and desire to understand them quickly
developed into a thirst for knowledge in the field of canine behavior.
Ms Black has counseled thousands of dog owners, attended The University
of Cornell, in Canine Behavioral studies and worked on various film
productions such as Kid 1990 with C. Thomas Howell and Sunstroke TV
Film produced by Jane Seymour. After serving as the training director
of Partners school for Dogs, coaching and training other instructors,
thousands of clients and canines, and overseeing multiple training
sites throughout Southern California, Ms Black turned attention to
equines and the field of natural horsemanship. Training and rescuing an
Andalusian yearling turned out to be one of the highlights of her work
with animals and deepened her understanding of the human relationship
with pets. Ms Black's focus is providing education and opportunity thru
her future project, non-profit organization, The Arizona equine and
canine learning center.
