Became a best selling author of several novels in the 1980s, including "Southern Women," a novel set in Savannah, South Carolina, and "Bed and Breakfast" a novel set in Beaufort, South Carolina.
Struggled with alcoholism for most of her life, since she was in her thirties.
Studied at the American Academy of Dramatic Arts.
Graduated from the University of California, Los Angeles with a Bachelor of Arts in 1961.
