Dusseldorf, Aug 21 (Ians) The Indian junior men’s hockey blanked England 4-0 at the 4 Nations Tournament-Dusseldorf 2023 here on Monday with Rajinder Singh (13′), Amir Ali (33′), Amandeep Lakra (41′), and Araijeet Singh Hundal (58′) getting the goals.
It was a cagey start to the match with both the teams looking for an early goal. India showcased their defensive prowess to hold off England. With Rajinder Singh (13′) converting a late penalty corner, India took a 1-0 lead to close the first quarter.
Trailing by a goal, England started stitching attacking moves to cover the deficit in the second quarter. But the side led by Vishnukant Singh continued to dominate in the final third and prevented England from getting a goal back and India went into the halftime leading 1-0.
At the start of the second half, Amir Ali (33′) scored a quick field goal to put more pressure on England. With a 2-0 lead, India started dominating the proceedings.

New Delhi, July 27 (Ians) Hockey India on Thursday announced the 20-member Indian junior men’s hockey team that will participate in a 4-Nation Tournament from August 18 to 22 at Dusseldorf, Germany..
India will play against England, Spain, and hosts Germany in the tournament, which will be part of the team’s preparations for the all-important Fih Hockey Men’s Junior World Cup 2023 to be played in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia from December 5-16 this year.
The team will be led by talismanic forwards Uttam Singh, as captain, and Boby Singh Dhami, as vice-captain.
The team includes players like defender Sharda Nand Tiwari and Araijeet Singh Hundal, who have some experience playing at the senior level.
Speaking on the tour, the Indian men’s junior hockey team Coach C.R Kumar said, “We have been training hard in preparation for the Fih Hockey Men’s Junior World Cup 2023 and have identified some areas of improvement.

New Delhi, Oct 8 (Ians) Hockey India on Saturday named the 18-member Indian junior men’s team, captained by Uttam Singh, for the Sultan of Johor Cup Malaysia, scheduled to begin on October 22 in Johor Bahru.
The Indian team, which ended its campaign with a silver medal in the 2019 edition after a closely-fought match against Great Britain, will take on Australia, Japan, South Africa, hosts Malaysia and defending champions Great Britain in this year’s edition, which is being held after two years due to the pandemic.
Captain Uttam Singh featured in India’s Junior World Cup campaign at home in 2021 as well as debuted for the senior side at the Asia Cup 2022 held in Jakarta earlier this year. Boby Singh Dhami has been named vice captain of the team.
